Surveillance System DVR's
« on: September 01, 2011, 03:55:32 PM »
Anyone have any experience with surveillance system DVR's?  We have an 8 camera setup at work and the DVR died for it.  Boss wants me to find a new one, but I know next to nothing about them.  I do know I hate the Q-See one we have now.  Menu's are glitchy and slow and the remote web interface only works in IE and is TERRIBLE!

I was look it at a Aposonic A-S0801R8-400 8 Channel H.264 on Newegg because it has decent reviews (for the two it has) and an upgradeable hdd.  Read on another site the the remote interface runs through Java so any web browser that can run Java it should work on.  But thats about the limit of my knowledge.  Need one that can take 8 camera's and preferable remote access that can be pulled up in any browser.

Any suggestions would be really help.  Even a good place to read up on them or shop for them online would be great.  Newegg isn't the best for this but it more organized that a lot of sites (Like Amazon or Overstock)

Just remember,  before you criticize someone, walk a mile in there shoes.  That way you are a mile away and have their shoes. :P

Dont got with a dvr system unless that is what the boss wants for the ease of use and plug and play. If you have the time You will be much more happier with getting an 8 port dvr card and running pc software, Also cheaper to as you can easily switch software rather then getting a whole new plug and play dvr setup

I suggested that to the boss but he wants to go with a pre-built DVR.  He feels it would be more reliable and it takes less time.  I don't have to build it :p.
