The iPhone 5 will be superior to the Galaxy, I have Galaxy and it is a bit crap construction quality.

The iPhone construction quality ain't brilliant either. I have one friend who covets it as though it'll break if its held too tightly, and I'm not surprised after seeing what's left of another friends iPhone's screen after he kept in his back pocket and did that most dangerous of activities; bending over. And he's not the only one whose broken their screen by doing something rather benign like accidentally dropping it once in your lifetime or putting it under mild tensile forces.

I don't have an iPhone either, I find that Blackberries or HTC have good construction.

^ i dont like touchscreen either, you`d be personally putting fingerprints/scratches all over the screen.
Screen protector? See threw plastic sheet.
it doesn't cut it, you`d still see fingerprints, scratches are even more visible!
you`d have to replace the protector once a week, bad.
ok i will agree i have to change my screen protectors one every month or two but wtf kind of sandpaper do you keep in your pocket that you would ruin a screen protector a fucking week. Its unlikely if you are scratching your screen that badly that you would have any device last very long in your possession. Simply put most of what your saying is grasping at straws just put it simple and say you simply prefer buttons of a touchscreen and end it there. Fingerprints wipe off in a second and scratches occur to the screens buttons or not and usually more on the plastic screens typically present on non touchscreen and cheap touchscreen devices then the glass screens of most nice touchscreen devices

^ Diamond dust LOL kidding

well its not my phone but my cousin's i`d occasionally burrow it from time to time and using the stylus leaves trace marks on the screen protector(cheap one), nails leaves scratch mark too.
he did once tried one of those effing expensive screen protector, cool it lasted two months... then he thinked back, once a week for 10% of the price, he`d be saving 20% worth of money.

ps: he`d change it before the scratches becomes heavily visible, thats why he`d change it once a week, he could stretch it to twice a week if he wasn't that much of a perfectionist.

you are talking about a device with a resistance touch screen, not a capacitive is my guess, since finger nails dont work on capacitive screens and you need a special stylus. Resistance screens were usually shitty and plastic

People if you buy the right screen protector; you don't worry about fingerprints, you see your screen just as good without it. And it lasts a long time.

It also depends on whether or not you apply it properly. If you're trapping dust of air bubble underneath... we'll no sane person wants that.

Most phones these days are moving towards glass screens. Those are near impossible to scratch, unless you put your keys in the same pocket as your phone. For which case... yeah.

What phones are you going to afford below $200 that's a decent smart phone? (Contract discount not included)

"Oh shit I lost/broke/ate my phone. Good job I can buy another with chump change"

I actually find my cheap phone has lasted me longer than a smartphone would. Apart from not breaking as quick as friends with smartphones, I KNOW this for a fact because a couple of times muggers have simply handed it back to me and walked off disappointed.

Those phones kitamesume is talking about aren't smartphones.

Kitamesume and I live in a country where we can buy phones that aren't tied to a network. You can say that most phones in our country are disposable.

Some muggers are even annoyed that you only have a crappy phone.

I still wouldn't exactly call them disposable. Unless, of course, they're cheap knock-offs made by some random person in China who's selling them for $5 or something (and the battery lasts about 1.5 cycles).

v Sounds vintage, except with crazy battery. But I meant 1.5 cycles as in it no longer holds a charge after you charge it a couple times.

Stop thinking smartphones just as expensive phones, they're handheld computers that happens to have cellular radios. Some people even do it pure data style: internet texting and VoIP.

Then maybe they should stop calling them "phones", huh?
