I fail to see why people have problems with them.

You are just a morning person. Count yourself lucky if you have to get to work soon in the morning.

I smash my alarm clock into the wall and sometimes it breaks.  I used my phone as an alarm until it broke.

I used to use my old phone as an alarm. It was easy to use mp3s that I loaded on it. Damn you iPhone.

double rainbow was an interesting way to wake up.

I use a motion detecting alarm clock on my phone, it wakes me up at any point within a half hour period. I usually don't hear it the first time it goes off but wake up before it's gone off again. Its nice to be woken up by something slowly rather than shocked awake. I hate loud alarm clocks. ><

I have a HUGE  problem waking up early or waking up at all.
I used to use Converter - Death Time to wake me up, worked as a charm. Was up in no time, but I was kind of jumpy after waking up with this song.
So now I use Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper to wake me up. I switch my mobile phone alarm clock some 15-10 min early and let it ring few times and then I wake up nice and calm. I even wake up from daydreaming when I hear this song now. Been using it for a year or two as alarm clock sound.
I have come to conclusion that it is better to wake up to something calm and not loud, then something that just make one jump up in the bed....
