However I would like to defend her character for now, I mean, (click to show/hide)her father literally directed her, she nearly had no free will, only recently she became aware of modern society's point of view on what is between her and her father, she knew it wasn't right, but she didn't know it was plain wrong. Shows how much influence her father had over her past those years. Without it she would probably be a pretty damn lively popular high school idol by now.
So there, we agreed with 3 things.
I was actually hoping you would watch this show harpy :3

well I do understand you wanting to defend her. She is cute by your standards ( I think) :D
But I have to disagree about how you defend her as :
(click to show/hide)I do not really see how her father directs her. Yes he is over protective and he does take naked pictures of her once a year. He did kind of brain wash her, that's not really directing her is it? Most parents brainwash their kids and coming out of it is kind of hard for everyone. Just that her father is a bit of a creep and is quite influential and she is a total sissy. I am getting off the point now.
He did not tell her to do something, he just took away the opinions he did not like. She was a spoiled brat with a mother issue and overprotective father - she does have to have a character and not just empty shell. She does not have a character just good story. Even after she found out what his father is doing there should have been something going on inside her. Screaming in well part does not really count because she screams totally idiotic things that does not sound sincere, just something one thinks she must have thinking. Its like she thinks that this is something I should be doing now. Maybe they will fix this thing later on. I hope so.
There are some anime characters (cant remember names now, darn, I should get my memory trained for names and numbers) that had even worst stories of abuse from parents and they did have a character. I am starting to suspect that anime makers no longer consider character characters (now that's found funny) to be important. Even with a good story anime still feels shallow and boring and "cheep". So stop defending no character characters in anime!!!!
Havoc10K:
Well she stood up for herself in ep 3, even if for a little bit, she clearly is scared the shit of her father but I was like "YOU GOT WHAT YOU DESERVE!" after that scene.
Now I f-ken hate myself for not storing the eps till it ended and marathoning them, but hell, I like this show and can't wait for next ep.

I think you're not seeing things the way you should.
(click to show/hide)Rea's father is not just overprotective, he's downright possessive of her. Every move she makes has to have his stamp of approval, else either she or some one else will be punished for it and he refuses her the freedom she desires. Her mother does nothing, so Rea lives in constant fear of her father. I'm pretty sure most people would become traumatized from that and I definitely disagree that she's a weakling because she doesn't resist. After all, we've seen what trying to do so leads to – he grounds her for life, tutors her at home and destroys the lives of the people she cares about.

Stop blaming anime producers for 'lack of character'. The anime is closely following the manga (even expands a bit on it – for now anyway), so if you truly feel the need to blame someone, blame the mangaka. However, I advise you to wait with your final judgment till you've seen more of the show, as Rea's zombification completely changes things around (and for the better).
