It's not just some new technology hype that I'm jumping on, I don't do that.

It's either the iPad 2, samsung tab 10.1 or the the HP touchpad.

And yes tablets are overpriced. The companies trying to pull out as much profit as possible.

Ok, so you think that tablets are overpriced... then why spend $600 on something where you can save up an extra $400 and get yourself a Macbook air? Those are not only better than any tablet you can get, but you will be able to do a lot more with it.

So you don't need a tablet, you just want one even thought an e-reader is better to read on, got more mobility, the battery last for weeks, and is a lot cheaper. The main reasons I would considering getting a tablet over an e-book is
- the e-books I can buy is very limited since I don't live in America.
- my android phone is pretty old (can't handle most app), so getting a tablet that got more power would be nice to have.

Osmo:
I need to do more than a eReader can do. My iphone can do that. My iphone can do everything I want it to do, but it's size is not practical to do work on.
But I need something bigger to read on. Perfect with its touch when it comes to reader. I can hold it like a book when going to bed at night. I can slide it into my bags easily and it takes less space.
I don't need a macbook air. I don't need something that does alot. The tablet does everything I need it too.

ANY will work fine. You just want a note taking software and a browser. What the hell else do you need? You don't need games, or a phone, or 3G or anything else. Just to echo what was stated earlier, you don't need a tablet. You want a tablet.

However, just to give another kick to the horse.

Cost:
Acer Icona
Asus A or W series. (A = Android, W = windows)

Eye Candy:
iPad 2 - OG. People treat it as a standard, but it's its own category because it sorta did it first.
Sony S - Sony tickles the eye in general. Invented/Innovated a shitload of stuff. Not the strongest for marketing though.
Blackberry playbook - Totally different OS than the rest of the pack. Pretty much the ONLY tablet designed purely for productivity and not gaming.
Samsung Galaxy - Samsung tickle the eye but in a different way than Sony or Apple

Beyond this, I seriously can't understand why you'd keep asking questions. If you need affirmation for your purchase, find someone in real life to do so. You know your own budget and preferences, so need to keep asking us.
