Did you know?
YouTube and some other major video sites serve raw videos for mobile devices! Not only you don't need flash it's actually more efficient because you are not using that Adobe POS to play a video.
Now you know!

There isn't an app for everything on the internet. Try visiting ESPN.com on an iPad... you'll get the mobile version every time. -.-

Don't try and pull a fast one on me. You had to pay $4.99 for Skyfire just so you can use flash. Don't you find that... wrong? Flash is free, but you had to pay to use it (unlike other people who had to jailbreak their iPads :P).

i find it unreasonable for an object to have a lock in period. i mean, once you buy it its all yours imho, do whatever you want with it and no one will care. might void your warranty though.

think about it on something perishable, lets say a salad dressing with a stingy rule of you're only allowed to use it on salads. you used it on flavoring your french fries instead... the manufacturer sued you...

It's called "Using as Intended". It turned out a PS3 could be used as a Linux box but Sony frowned upon that and made it so you can't dual boot it. Apple does the same thing. You do not "own" iPads... you simple purchase the right to "Use it as intended."

Then again, you are overpaying, getting less features, and being boned more money to use free software.  ::)

I used the bone stock Safari. Noticed that iOS style progress bar? Clearly ESPN streams me the raw video when it sees my user agent.

PS: jail breaking is exempt from DMCA.

Doesn't change the fact that you had to program hack your iPad to be able to do that.

Doesn't change the fact that ESPN does not throw iPad users its mobile site, iPad users can play videos directly off ESPN, Skyfire does not actually give you Flash, jailbreaking is not against the law and Apple can't sue you for jailbreaking.

Which does not change the fact that you had to manually hack your own product.

A fact that the user has accepted beforehand, unlike the PS3.

Also, why are you changing the subject from ESPN to jailbreaking? Just admit you were wrong about ESPN.

No, because ESPN has flash... iPads don't support flash.

Thus, you had to hack your iPad to use flash. Simple fact.  :-*

When the ESPN site detects iPad Safari it streams the video directly instead requiring flash to play it. That's the whole point. This is browser sniffing 101.

TouchPad craze 2.0!

They are not going to firesale them, that's for sure.

When was the last time you saw someone with a RIM Playbook?

When was the first time for that matter? XD

LOL RIM HAVE BEEN FAILING FOR AWHILE.

The 9900 Bold they released is quite good, though the ripped off the steel metal frame off the iphone 4

RIM is not "failing" that badly, they are rapidly losing consumer market share, but their buisness market share is still very strong.

IIRC they are still profitable. They just are losing market share as tomoya has stated. The real losses afaik will begin if they can't get rid of the playbooks.

They are a potential target of a takeover by some because of the ridiculous patent war that has begun to go wild across the board for smartphone companies.
