Link.

Gotta love Fox News - right when their 'video games are evil murder simulators that will turn all our children into violent killers' articles were beginning to lose their humour and get a bit boring, they change angles and manage to be even more hilarious. :D

Anything and everything will be construed as "wrong" for kids. I'm sorry, I have played TONS of shooter games I will safely say that I do not know how to actually go into battle and come out... well... alive.

He sounded like an annoyed old hag. I think he used the word "boring" to refer to my pipe making games (in the mobile). >_>
Parts of it I admired greatly, parts I laughed at till my sides were almost sore;
other parts I read with absolute sorrow,  because I think them utterly false and grievously mischievous...

Well, they mentioned "Fate of the world", a retarded game because what it promotes is to manipulate sovereign nations Illuminati style in order to achieve some green goals. It's like you are playing an eco-Hitler or something.... So they nailed at least one of the games as shitty.

For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Eco-Hitler? Wouldn't ec0-Hitler go after Soccer Moms who drive big SUVs just for one kid and like 2-3 bags of groceries? XD

The reason I was reminded of this was because this soccer mom I saw today (trust me, I knew she was one) had backed her Ford Excursion... which I would like to remind everyone here that that truck is a little under 19 feet long... in someone else's parked car. She acted baffled, as if she didn't see where the other car was at all. The owner of the other car came out and asked how this had happened, and she started blaming HIM for the accident (the Excursion didn't have a scratch on it, but the other car's trunk was bent in). Anyways, stupid bitches aside... ec0-Hitler should go after those soccer moms. :P

I don't usually agree with FOX news, but in this case I sort of do. In the case of Sim city, pollution has always been a factor in the game, and the fines thing makes a bit of sense (that happened in my city actually). However, I am against most forms and reasons for indoctrination of children. That I do agree with. As for this eco-hitler game...never heard of it, but I'd probably hate it.

The things with games is that it can have completely different effects from one child to another. Most do not go out and kill people after they play certain games, then there are kids that do.
In general though it does desensitise kids to alot of violence, as certain games are violent in nature.
Again we do not know who is playing these games so you can't blame video games.

I blame parents... how can parents willingly get video games that say "Blood, Gore, and Intense Violence" and think... "Oh... this Call of Duty game seems wholesome enough for my 13-16 year old kid."  ::)

Ratings are clearly labeled on retail games. Online social games aren't. So these Fox news people got a point that games potentially could portray an agenda (be it left or right).

I don't know about any of you guys, but I totally see Warhammer 40K: Space Marine as the most Right wing game ever. I mean come on... Besides the violence, it just bleeds Republican. :P

Warhammer universe doesn't give a damn about right wing or left wing as it's main inspiration is the Dark Ages in Europe put in a sci-fi setting.

Sorry, I was trying to be sarcastic without being overly sarcastic to the point of " ::) " laughter... (minus the laughter)

I do desire a weapon in Space Marine that would be like a crossbow... but it would have the ability to skewer multiple Orks. I would call it the BB Rifle (BB standing for Bolter Bow).

At "safest source of energy there is" I laughed out loud. And what's wrong with the word "slaughter", it's the technical term for what happens to animals before they become hamburgers. Just who is fearmongering here?

Have you actually played the game? The entire point is 'what would you do to try and prevent the disastrous effects of global warming if you were in charge of the world?'. In the game you are elected to be in charge of this as the result of a major global treaty, and since all the different regions can pull out whenever they want if they feel you aren't doing a good job, I'd hardly call it 'illuminati style'.

I'm not really sure how the SimCity thing counts as 'indoctrination of children' either. It's just modelling what happens in reality - and local councils face plenty of fines etc for not meeting pollution targets, so it seems pretty accurate to me.

I only play games which are "violent" in nature. I've played a lot of them. Doesn't mean I go hitting people and/or killing them. You just need to keep in mind that Fiction =/= Reality.

It's one of those "I am glad I did not waste my money on it, but I regret wasting my bandwith on it while pirating" game. Did you miss the part of the game where you can hire a PMC (private military contractor) to pull off a coup and replace the government with the one that "likes you more"?
