I remember countless times when someone was going to tell him the "rules" and the like, but every time someone else stopped them from saying anything. So it's obvious that the class knew that he didn't know anything. He was purposefully kept in the dark.

(click to show/hide)The impression I got, mainly from that conversation last episode (right before the nurse died, I think it was), was that they wanted to tell him, but that they weren't sure whether it would actually solve it or make it worse. I mean, in order to tell him about Mei, they need to admit she exists - and since that's the one thing they're trying to avoid, they're obviously reluctant to do it.
I reckon that's part of it anyway, I doubt it's the whole reason though. I think class-rep girl was planning to tell him on his first day (She's complained several times about how all this happened because she wasn't there on his first day to deal with it), but she was absent, and so didn't get an opportunity. And then he started talking to Mei, and they got worried, and didn't know what to do, so they decided not to tell him anything until they did, and it all kind of snowballed from there. Probably. That's roughly the impression I got anyway; we'll see how accurate we all are soon enough, I expect. I might rewatch this episode later and see if my theory holds too.
What I really want to know is, why Mei? She must have done something, or something must have happened for her to be the one who got exiled, but what?
This most recent episode was an improvement over the last couple. I still have mixed opinions on this show, but hopefully it's a sign that it'll improve even more in the coming episodes.
