Most gloves of this type are thick and unweildly, I agree. But after trying the "sample gloves" hooked on the railing I immediately bought them. These are not like those other pairs of leather gloves and they're far warmer than those gloves because they're insulated.

Personally, I dont think most people cant handle driving in any snow. Probably because everyone is told to avoid driving in it so they have no real experience and do stupid things.

I know of people here who are like, "Don't take driving lessons in the winter. It's harder to do then..."

Fucking hell! Learn to do shit the proper way. Fucking pussies taking the easy way out then complaining they don't know how to do things properly. Fuck this generation of young people!

My first day of driving, I drove icy conditions, was almost back into by a van who didn't check before driving (instructor angrily reached over and bamped the horn several times), drove in rush hour traffic. That was a mindfuck of terror.

Lol the first time it snowed my Dad just told me to take my then car out into a parking lot and go fucking nuts. Learnt that as a rule, just drive like you were taught, slowly and smoothly. Panic and shit just goes berserk, lots of fun though.

+1
The first time it snowed after I got my license I did the same thing. Found a large empty parking lot and started practicing. I only drive manuals too.. so thats another reason why I did that, it takes some practice to start a manual off in the snow without just spinning tires. The next year I learned how great snow tires are.  ;D

People are getting lazy as shit so they're more miffed by cold than anything.

BAWWWWWWWWWWWW I need to wear jacket? Can't run around with nearly no clothes? BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I can't tailgate as often? BAWWWWWWWWWWW this is fucking democracy, I should be able to do whatever I want! BAWWWWWWWWWW

I can't help but believe people are more retarded in this day and age. Come on. it's just a bit of cold. You have to call a WHAAAAAAAAmbulance because you have to wear warmer clothes? Are you fucking serious? Some kids in the 3rd world would love to wear the shitty clothes they're paid like 10 cents a day to make, rather than the rags they use to cover up.

I have never used snow tires. Only all season. My personal belief is that if you need snow tires, you're compensating for shitty driving habits. There are those who many need them due to them driving frequently before the ploughs go out, or they live in a small town and need to drive on covered highways etc. but in general, the populace should be able to survive on ASRs if they don't drive like retards.

Well I drive for a living now, so I kind of need snow tires as I will be on the roads before plows. We also get a few blizzards a year here, many times all-seasons wouldnt move my car at all which is why I went with snow tires. If the car doesnt move at all then it has nothing to do with your driving habits.  :P
But yes, you should learn how the car reacts in the snow on all-seasons.

One thing that kind of annoys me is that someone, yelling outside my door right now for no real reason, is using the argument that cold weather=they should stay up later. Why...?

I take issue with people who have a belief the world should be dumbed down to make it easy and comfortable for them. Fucking rich mentality. A snobbish 1st world perception.

@Char, your vehicle should move fine with ASRs as long as they have enough tread. Even crappy snow tires with little tread is useless. The main difference is that ASRs are used almost all the time and people "save up" snow tires. Which means in general, snow tires have tread, but someone on ASRs may have burned through most of their tread during the summer/autumn prior to winter.

I keep a spade shovel in the trunk of my infiniti. My brother laughed at me for doing so. One winter later, he told me he used it over a dozen times not for himself, but to dig out friends. He told me once, he was in a friends vehicle and had to pull out another friend. They dug through snow with hands like retards for over an hour. Other than the time when we first bought the infiniti and had nearly bald tires (and my bro crashed into a snow drift) we have never had control problems with the infiniti with ASRs on. We have good enough tread. My tires are 2.5 years old now and they're still great for winter driving conditions. Oh, I might want to add that the braking system is(was?) fuxxored, allowing for water to get into the system which meant the brakes were freezing last winter. We still were able to stop the vehicle with no brakes and with ice on the roads. A cool head helps a lot to determine how to keep from getting into accidents.

I don't drive an SUV because I pay for my gas.
But to be honest, I'm glad the snow's gone, I walked to the store and damn near froze my tits off.

I drive a gas guzzler because I can't afford another car. It's a sedan though, not an SUV.

Snow isn't "inherently cold". However, it merely exists in environments where it is cold. Snow is a great insulator, thus igloos are warm. You can have a very cold place without snow.

It's cold here, but I swear it's warmer out when it's raining.
I'm not really concerned anymore though, I borrowed some money so now I can afford to drive to the store instead of walking fuck yeah.

How far is this store? Arcor THE jacket and Memsa THE mittens might be somewhat more cost effective.

Like two blocks away.
And I was layered out to the nines today, boots, mittens, scarf, the works. I was still fucking cold, and I'm not accustomed to cold.

Now I can bomb to the store in my little shitbox instead so I'm satisfied.

I am intrigued by how this looks like in real life. I currently almost envision a colourful marshmallow trundling along the street.

Ive had brand new All-Seasons and brand new Snows, snow tires will always be better in the snow. There is a joke with All-Seasons, "They are equally shitty, in all seasons." I dont buy them, I have summer tires and winter tires and switch between them. But Ive also driven in over a foot of snow in a small car, it helps a lot, trust me.

I've done the same in an Acura EL 1.6 I used to own. That thing had like 3 inches of clearance. I got stuck a lot, but rarely had to do with the tires. Mainly to do with clearance issues of the car.

I know snow tires have increased abilities in the winter. I'm not denying that. Just saying anyone should be able to drive a car with ASRs. To me, snow tires are like cheating. It's one thing to admit you need the increased performance, it's another to believe you're skillful because your abilities to handle the weather exceeds that of others. Snow tires aren't normalizing, they're performance enhancing.

I know I can drive better with snows. I'm just stubborn in the sense that I believe ASRs are adequate and the practice on them give me an edge the moment I swap to snows.
