I was disappointed with this show, too.
Watching the first season was a decent amount more enjoyable.
Though honestly both Bakemono and Nisemono feel a bit like Mawaru Penguindrum. Not in terms of setting or similarity of characters. Well, there is a limited amount of that, that both series share....
But mainly, I mean in the sense that it feels like it's supposed to be a really good show... but when you actually get to the core of it, it's not actually that good. Great visuals and high production values oftentimes cloud objective assessments of the whole of a series. That's not to say it's bad. Far from it. It's just not
that good.

Decent assessment, but I don't understand why he gave it an 8 at the end. With as many things as he pointed out, that should be a 7/10 at best.
Incidentally, I would roughly agree with that score.
