New computer being built for upcoming PC titles!
TMRNetShark:
Ok, everyone! I am purchasing a new computer for upcoming PC titles that are going to be hitting this fall, which include:
Rage
Battlefield 3 (guestimate)
Skyrim (guestimate)
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Above are the games that I would like to play on full detail or at least close to full detail and the system requirements they will likely require. I won't be playing on anything bigger than 1366x768 and I don't care about having UBER multisampling AA or anything like that. Now, here is what I'm getting:
BIOSTAR 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
PowerColor Radeon HD 6850 1GB
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz
Mushkin Enhanced SP 6GB (2GB x 3) DDR3 1333
(Power supply is a 575W... more than enough for the above stated)
I KNOW that it's all very cheap products... and the DDR3 1333 is slower than DDR 1600, but I don't see what's the big fuss of 1600 over 1333 is. My question to you all is, will the above products work well at running those games I've stated at high setting (maybe not ultra) and still get a moderately good framerate above 40 fps? The only off brand products are the PowerColor Video card and the Mushkin RAM. I mean, is the extra ten dollars to get the Gigabyte 6850 and the extra 8 dollars for the Corsair XMS3 RAM worth it?
Sosseres:
That motherboard only has 6 slots for DVD/HDD (or 7 if you count the none sata one). How will you manage with that few? (First time I ever heard of Biostar, they seem reputable though.)

O.o
Your sarcasm reaches no bounds. But at least you tried to be helpful. :)
Sosseres:
I was serious, I had to disconnect a hdd whenever I wanted to plug in my DVD drive when I only had 6 slots on my old motherboard. It is a serious consideration.
JoonasTo:
Ati Reference cards have horrible noise, not sure if that gigabyte is any better though. If you could test them or find source of somewhat reliable info about the noise levels it'd tell you. So can't say for sure.
Memory probably is, you'll hate it a few years later when your RAM starts making you get bsods.
I got a dual core from years ago and a 6850 and I have no problems running new games from full so I think you should be good for most stuff on high. Haven't been updated on the latests trends too much though I'd suggest waiting for more info on that.
