Both are Free to play RPGs of a kind. I'm just worried about GW2's class structure. The loss of the trinity system kind kills community. We need healers, we need a tank(s), and we need rogues/hunters. Oh wait, everyone can heal everyone else and we can all deal out relatively the same damage and tank relatively the same number of mobs. *Everyone looks at everyone else in such a dirty way* Everyone just went into their own corner of the game and only played with close friends or by themselves. Since GW is built around sharding (or shitting your pants), then you have to deal with other people if you want to advance. That means actively looking for someone to join your group instead of running into them in an open world. If they just made the game an open world WHILE still having F2P... I'll totally get Guild Wars 2. (cause I loved Guild Wars and it's expansions but I didn't like sharding)

I just want to give a shout out to Skyrim. Just put money down for that sweet game. I'll also donate $2 to the first modder to patch the game. That $2 means you should make more mods that fix the game until it's in an actual PC retail game (with relatively little bugs).

I hope that game is multi-core coded because I want that to use every bit of my 6-core CPU.

Or the new system will bring more people together because groups will form out of any classes, not just the traditional healer/tank/dps. In my experience there are always 10 DPS and 5 tanks for every one healer. I can't blame people though, I hate playing a dedicated healer class myself.

Either way, GW2 has at least balls to try something different and that is enough reason for me to play... apart from the fact that I have a bunch of titles in Hall of Monuments as well.  ;)
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

So do you think SWTOR is playing it too safe copying off WoW and then getting crushed by Titan (whenever it's fucking released).... cause I can totally see that happening to SWTOR.

I think SWTOR will be avoiding a disaster that it is only thanks to "star wars" IP, this video is the dullest gameplay video of an upcoming game I have seen this year.

You didn't like that gameplay? Seriously? Eh, I thought it was pretty cool. And yes.. MMO KOTOR is always a good thing in my book.

Movements and animations were dull (everyone was standing still), UI was WOW, and graphics were KOTOR, which would be a good thing if KOTOR wasn't an 8 year old game. KOTOR was good because it was a single player, you were "the hero", not "a hero" which, to be fair, is an issue with any MMO out there, but it is the reason why I don't see "MMO version of KOTOR" as a good thing.

So is your good idea? I think it would be cool to be a Jedi or Trooper and be part of a world that is Star Wars. Yeah, it doesn't look stunning, but that's to get a lot of people into the game. I mean, only time will tell with that game.

I used to play an Officer class in SWG.... Hey by that time's standard it was a good concept, well... a buggy game, but a good concept. From seeing things revealed in SWTOR, I feel like some game mechanics have never moved forward during the last decade or two. Same static combat, a bunch of people standing still reducing each other healthbars while a healer plays "wack em all" with friendly healthbars. In some ways it is actually worse than SWG, like fewer classes and more restrictive gameplay.

So if the SWG servers would still be running, I would rather play that game.

Just a little nitpick here, neither of them are free to play, you have to purchase the games first.  ;D

KOTOR is brilliant in my books, MMO KOTOR just doesn't sound good to me (especially since I have to pay a monthly fee for it). And I agree with Ace, the gameplay looks dull.

Fewer classes? Yes

Restrictive gameplay? Looks just like WoW to me!

Do you like focusing on the bad (or the same things) because you don't know how to objectively look at it. Yes, there are fewer classes. Did SWG have story driven cutscenes for your main storyline quest, your class storyline quest, your world arc quest, your other main quest line for the planet, and all the side quests? Did you have companions that had their own stories/quests to do?

The game may also play out like WoW. Combat that is more turn based than real time. Hey, it worked for WoW... why not SWTOR? Only time will really tell if SWTOR is a Hero to the MMO genre (not likely) or just a big flabby zero. I hope it's at least somewhere in the middle cause I want to play all the classes.

Restrictive in comparison to SWG. I have yet to see SWTOR giving you a TIE fighter and let you play the game as if it was Freelancer or something.

Cutscenes is a flawed concept in MMO, do you know why? Because people act "too cool" to watch them and skip them all anyway. Actually I have been trolling people in Guild Wars by not skipping cutscenes while making myself a sandwich or something only to come back 5 minutes later to an enraged group that was all like "Who the fuck did not skip this shit?". ;D

So I don't see cutscenes as anything good at all.

Nope, being a freelancer in SWTOR probably doesn't work. As for Cutscenes... yes.. they rip you out of your immersion, but they do provide story better in a game versus Quest Text.

Ah, I love doing that to people.  :D

Ummm... I think I know what he meant hence why I said.. "Nope, being a freelancer in SWTOR probably doesn't work"

That's why it's odd that Bounty Hunters are "inherently" evil while Smugglers are "inherently" good.

That right there is why I started playing with mostly Heroes, and eventually just stopped playing. When trolling is the occupation half your player base there's an issue. I'm all for watching cutscenes the 1st time, hell even the 2nd. But when it's my 6th or 7th time through the mission I just don't care.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

That's why it's odd that Bounty Hunters are "inherently" evil while Smugglers are "inherently" good.

That's what you get when you try to split everything to only 2 sides. Imagine that there is a legal bounty on a criminal psychopath and you kill him for a bounty: that makes you a role citizen, on other hand as a smuggler you could be smuggling women and children who are mandalorian slaves.

That is another part of SWG I liked, working for Empire didn't make you "evil". After all Empire are convinced that they are the good guys and what they do is right. SWTOR is pretty much set up to make one side good and one side evil.

Oh, and inb4 someone mentions that Sith lords are all evil:
