Dark Souls - not really winter though. It's coming out in two weeks or so.

Pre-ordered mine yesterday.... at least, the agony and suffering comes in a collector's edition metal case, lol.

Indeed, "free" dlc on preorder or bought new is not free dlc.  You're getting played.

Oh yeah, I'm totally getting played by getting free shit. Hahahaha :P

Well, you are getting played by making a blind purchase with a free DLC being used as a bait.... however I would pre-order BF3 even without it, because it's a fucking Battlefield 2 successor.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

I would say that I pre-ordered because of that fact... the added 4 maps is only a bonus plus I'll be getting the physical copy so I'm getting the Type-88 LMG, the Flash Suppressor, The Fleshette Rounds, and the DAO shotgun. Yeah, it's still $60... but this way EA added the physical warfare pack so that it will look better to their investors when they have a lot of box copy sales. I was originally gonna get it for PS3, but then I was thinking to myself that there isn't 64 player matches (which made BF1942/2 great in the first place) so I sucked it up and bought a new computer.

That, and Origins has this really weird clause in the ToS... they can take away your copies of games if you don't use it for 24 months. You can't take away a physical copy of a game, now can you? (Yeah, you can... but EA themselves isn't going to come to my house and be like "Hand it over!")

I would say you did the right thing. Also thanks for the info on the Origin clause, I will keep that in mind.

Why DICE? Why did you sell yourselves to the worst fucked up publisher out there besides Ubisoft? Fucking EA... unbelievable...

The same question can be said to Infinity Ward... Call of Duty 1 and 2 were both amazing games.... then the series was just cannibalized by Activision down til it's the same game.

Atleast with EA and Activision... EA went out of it's way to make sure that Battlefield 3 can have a chance at taking on MW3. Healthy competition that Activision lacked. :P

People never read the ToS, do they? I remember when people started getting up in arms about Origin's "spyware" when Steam has the exact same clause in their ToS.  ::)

It's debatable... EA has had Madden since... what? 92? 93? Albeit, there were some major upgrades between generations of hardware... but for the past 6 years it's been the same game. I'm sure someone who plays Madden will promptly disagree with me though.

I would say Ubisoft is the worst with their ridiculous DRM that only hurts legitimate customers. Way to bite the hand that feeds...

Yeah, DRM ends up only punishing the paying costumer since pirates can remove DRM easily. Still I see Activision as a worse publisher because of its greed, squeezing every penny they can from their costumers.

Oh, I don't mind them squeezing money out of the customers. No, that is business.

What I really hate is when publishers outright bully developers, when they take the biggest cut, take IP from them and on a whim close them down just like that. You think customers have it bad? Developers, the people that use countless of hours to make a game for us to enjoy get fucked over by publishers that are little more than loan sharks who don't even like video games.

EA has closed down so many talented studios, it's simply unforgivable.

I think the firing of West and Zampella from the company THEY MADE is unforgivable... especially since neither of them got their royalties from MW2. Then PS3 owners got Black Ops in 540p (yeah, basically SD resolutions) and you needed a super computer to run BO on PC... yet Activision is trying to milk as much profit from the biggest fanbase (Xbox 360).

At least DICE is being allowed to make Battlefield 3 for PC as the lead platform while the console versions get a very close backseat (yet both are stellar looking console games too).

Personally speaking, I'm liking how id is looking right now. RAGE looks like one awesome game that blends a lot of great ideas from other shooters while still having a rewarding questing system. Not only is RAGE a new IP (unlike MW and BF), but they are striving to stay true to their shooter roots along with making the consoles 60 fps. Only two more weeks until it's released (I'll be playing it on PC).

I don't get the appeal of rage.  It doesn't look like it's really got any personality to it.  So far the reason to get it seems to merely be it's a "good FPS."

There's already like 2 dozen of those...

Ah! The following is ALL my own personally opinion... just in case anyone goes on a temper tantrum about what I'm going to say.

id has pedigree... and a lot more of it than most developers out there. I've been playing id games from Doom 2, RtCW, Doom 3, Enemy Territory, and Quake Wars. What makes their shooters feel better than other cookie cutter shooters? In Doom 2&3, I never really "thought" about when or where I would stop playing... I would just continue to play until it was 2 in the morning. RtCW was similar in the fact that I got lost in the world it created and that game made killing Nazi's fun (I still have nightmares about the Catacombs 10+ years later). Hell, I even liked the 2009 Wolfenstein (even though it wasn't as good as RtCW) because it started integrating a lot of other ideas from other shooters into that game while still maintaining the "Wolfenstein" feel. Some of my best multiplayer moments have happened in Enemy Territory (not Quake Wars) because I've enternalized the fact that I am the person to give out ammo (hence why I like being support in BF games) and I personally can give myself ammo if I run out defending a spot. id's own Quake Wars kinda (understatement) slinked on the consoles but was a stellar game on PC (cause they wanted to say "FUCK YOU XBOX!" or "FUCK YOU Playstation!" Didn't change the fact that id still knew how to make a great team based multiplayer fps on PC that was just as good as Wolfenstein: ET.

And finally we get to RAGE. This is a brand new IP that id has made and the developer is just using their "feature blender" to make everyone who likes shooters happy. The itches they are scratching in RAGE: different ammo types, deploy-able gun fight aids (turrents, spider bots) to distract enemies so you can flank, a MASSIVE non-linear world with linear quest lines (doing quests when you want to do them), no more ADS (except for scoped weapons), a crafting system (making my arsenal feel like my arsenal), and finally a corridor shooter with multiple pathways to victory.

Things RAGE avoids: ADS, ranged only enemies, "leveling" your character, perks, "you must do this, this, and this and that order to win" ala you have to use "this gun" to kill "this enemy" or else you lose, one single "faction" of enemies (They have like 12 clans with each their own unique styles of combat along with the technologically advanced "The Authority"), and finally... NO GOD DAMN SPRINTING (at least that I know of).

Why is there no Dark Souls on the list?

My look forward to:

Dark Souls
Skyrim
BF3

Sonic Generations, if they fix the annoying thing from S4E1 where it felt like you were jumping in a cage the entire time.

+1 for Dark Souls, hopefully demon's souls on steroids =P

Need to get that game and find out if Spellswords are still viable (Other then that strength builds are my No. 2 fav). Also check out which of my old favorite wep types have better or still equally good attack animations in Dark Souls.
