What game are you looking foward to the most this winter?

There's already like 2 dozen of those...

Ah! The following is ALL my own personally opinion... just in case anyone goes on a temper tantrum about what I'm going to say.

id has pedigree... and a lot more of it than most developers out there. I've been playing id games from Doom 2, RtCW, Doom 3, Enemy Territory, and Quake Wars. What makes their shooters feel better than other cookie cutter shooters? In Doom 2&3, I never really "thought" about when or where I would stop playing... I would just continue to play until it was 2 in the morning. RtCW was similar in the fact that I got lost in the world it created and that game made killing Nazi's fun (I still have nightmares about the Catacombs 10+ years later). Hell, I even liked the 2009 Wolfenstein (even though it wasn't as good as RtCW) because it started integrating a lot of other ideas from other shooters into that game while still maintaining the "Wolfenstein" feel. Some of my best multiplayer moments have happened in Enemy Territory (not Quake Wars) because I've enternalized the fact that I am the person to give out ammo (hence why I like being support in BF games) and I personally can give myself ammo if I run out defending a spot. id's own Quake Wars kinda (understatement) slinked on the consoles but was a stellar game on PC (cause they wanted to say "FUCK YOU XBOX!" or "FUCK YOU Playstation!" Didn't change the fact that id still knew how to make a great team based multiplayer fps on PC that was just as good as Wolfenstein: ET.

And finally we get to RAGE. This is a brand new IP that id has made and the developer is just using their "feature blender" to make everyone who likes shooters happy. The itches they are scratching in RAGE: different ammo types, deploy-able gun fight aids (turrents, spider bots) to distract enemies so you can flank, a MASSIVE non-linear world with linear quest lines (doing quests when you want to do them), no more ADS (except for scoped weapons), a crafting system (making my arsenal feel like my arsenal), and finally a corridor shooter with multiple pathways to victory.

Things RAGE avoids: ADS, ranged only enemies, "leveling" your character, perks, "you must do this, this, and this and that order to win" ala you have to use "this gun" to kill "this enemy" or else you lose, one single "faction" of enemies (They have like 12 clans with each their own unique styles of combat along with the technologically advanced "The Authority"), and finally... NO GOD DAMN SPRINTING (at least that I know of).

Why is there no Dark Souls on the list?

My look forward to:

Dark Souls
Skyrim
BF3

Sonic Generations, if they fix the annoying thing from S4E1 where it felt like you were jumping in a cage the entire time.

+1 for Dark Souls, hopefully demon's souls on steroids =P

Need to get that game and find out if Spellswords are still viable (Other then that strength builds are my No. 2 fav). Also check out which of my old favorite wep types have better or still equally good attack animations in Dark Souls.
