I have to say, this Winter is rather depressing for PC gamers.

As far as my knowledge goes, which isn't very far.

MW3 will be fun, BF3 will be a bit worse which will inspire some fun wars. <--based on previous games only

GW2 will be cool if it actually comes out. What a joke, it won't.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

Pff, we're lucky if they even follow their beta plan (starting the beta (closed one until it's "good enough" (so that it can act as a demo) for open) in November / December)

And yeah, it has become to feel like it was the spiritual successor to Duke Nukem ForNever, lol.

I wouldn't say that. I've got a backlog of steam games to get through, and BF3 + Diablo3 will soak up quite a lot of my time. And of course there are the cross platform games that I'll choose to play on PC :)

As far as this thread vote, it was a toss up between Skyrim and ...Skyrim.

Aside from BF3 and Skyward sword, Return to Dreamland and Rayman Origins look pretty cool. I like how alot of devs are taking some of my favorite classic characters and reviving them as they once were, with classic gameplay with a modern touch.

I'm sorry, but that's just the "oh fuck me, we're out of ideas!" approach to game designing. Sadly, while fun to pick up and play, rarely hold interest and don't add to the future of gaming.

Hopefully GW2 is actually good instead of the shit heap that is DNF. I DNF'd it.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

That's terrible logic. If anything all these games coming out with no story, no gameplay, just graphics don't add anything to the future of gaming. CoD MW3? Just another corridor shooting gallery (I don't even think they bothered to upgrade even the graphics)

Note I didn't say remake old games, I said bringing back classic gameplay. Metroid prime was cool and all, but what I really want is some old fashioned side scrolling samus and while Other M wasn't 100% side scroller, it definitely had elements, just to name an example.

It's not that the corridor shooters are all terrible because they are just one long corridor.. It's that people hate hunting around for the objectives. That's why FPS's take 8-10 hours these days. It's not as if the game itself is incredible short, it's that the action bit are very close together with the "obvious" direction to go. Now if they made Fallout into a TRUE FPS game, then that will be great (none of this VATS stuff).

And yes, they should bring back the 1993 maps for FPS's... I hate knowing where to go ALL the time... let me explore a bit.

Hint: Don't use VATS. (I don't, it makes game way more fun)

But... it's not as responsive on a controller because there is no auto-aim. (I lied, just go into VATS real quick, aim at whatever enemy you want, then exit out of VATS. That leaves your cross hair right at that target, then it's LT1 and then RT1 *Bam, bam bam*)

I would... but I wanna play Skyrim more right now than Fallout. I understand why "true" Fallout fans don't like 3 and NV. Yeah, I know.. Elder Scrolls is better because RPGs are meant to be in fantasy worlds (More or less, I like hitting things with enchanted arrows). I mean, nothing wrong with post apocolypic wasteland... just saying...

No no no, I am a huge fan of Fallout 1 and 2. I think post apocalyptic RPG back then was a breath of fresh air amid all those fantasy RPGs. I disliked Fallout 3 for entirely other reasons, while I like New Vegas because it brings back a lot from the original Fallout games in terms of storytelling, dark humour, monty python and dr.who references, etc... Still hate the gamebryo engine though.

Now they said that they will use a new engine in Skyrim, but I will believe it when I see it. I bet it is just tweaked and upgraded Gamebryo... Fuckers!  >:(

Looking at some of Skyrim's screen shots... it's really starting to look like it is the same engine. Just upgraded and tuned. I'm betting they'll have the same type of graphical options as what RAGE had at launch (and even after the update!). I'm really hoping there is no constant "loading area..." that really breaks up gameplay every 5-10 seconds of riding a horse. Was Morrowind ever like that? Oblivion was nice... I liked the random Gates to close. I just wanted a more refined game (which I hope Skyrim achieves... because the game looks awesome.).

Not every 5-10 seconds, more like every 3-4 minutes (if moving straight forward) for a few seconds in Morrowind.

The idea in Gamebryo is that the world is separated in cells, but they load as you approach them. When I had an old pc with small amount of RAM, I had loading screens on open world, with better RAM, open world never had any loading screens again.

On Morrowind there were no horses without a mod, but something even better, infamous potions called "Scroll of Icarian Flight". which basically fortified your acrobatics by 1000 points for seven seconds. Running forward and jumping with that effect would let you travel at amazing speed across the entire island. However no loading screens, but the game often paused when it obviously needed to load new cells.

IDk if Diablo 3 will be released in what most people consider "winter", but thats the number one game I'm stoked for right now.

Second would be Skyrim, which I'm going to use to tide myself over until D3 comes out :D.

Just remember,  before you criticize someone, walk a mile in there shoes.  That way you are a mile away and have their shoes. :P

Naw... all these games now are just a prequel Star Wars The Old Republic. I literally will be playing that game through into July of next year. If D3 isn't out by then, great... if it is... I'll get it. :P

That also means I have to finish Skyrim twice before December 20th (well, whenever I get in for early access). I like playing as like an archer with magic so I can summon demons to fight for me while I shoot magical arrows. The other way is just Paladin mode. :P

I will say, I might be able to level a character in a way where I can be both at the same time. :P

Now that I already have Dark Souls (which I'm taking a break from due to how much Seethe's crystal cave pisses me off), Skyrim is what I look most forward to.

I hope they improved combat over Oblivion.

If not, we have folks who made Deadly Reflex mod for Oblivion.
