right now i think the most broken game (i mean it takes too much grunt to get a good FPS) is Metro2033.

This is the type of game that I use my quad core on:
I've been playing with the Amiga and C64 emulators lately. Bringing back memories of my old favorites and awesome demos.
BUT what you can do to improve your anime experience, is view it interpolated at 60fps (or whatever your max refresh rate is).
Example:
@60 fps - http://www.spirton.com/uploads/InterFrame/20110618-Sample-InterFrame.mkv
Original - http://www.spirton.com/uploads/InterFrame/20110618-Sample-Original.mkv
Couple of tutorials on setting it up to play in real time:

(don't follow the whole guide for the installation. Works fine with CCCP installation plus the missing files.)

While some don't like the "soap opera" effect with live action, I think it's awesome with animation. Though at times can notice some artifacts. But can always re-encode it with more intensive scripts to reduce that.
I have no problems with viewing 720p interpolated at 60fps in real time with extreme settings on my quad core, but 1080p is pushing it. If able to consistently do that smoothly, then your PC is a beast.

Is there actually a difference? (I didn't watch the video) because it all depends on the bit-rate of anime?

i downloaded Splash player pro to test that 60fps thing since its faster to setup, used Nanoha The Movie 1st 1080p BD...fight scene. Normal framerate is 1-2% cpu usage, 60fps it's 20-30%. I can't tell any difference at all between the two personally....
Transformers 2 1080p BD though...did actually seem like it had smoother playback at 60fps...CPU useage was slightly higher

That's probably because of the detail of real life versus... well... an anime.
