I built this PC a few months back with the help of BakaBT. Many thanks for all the responses and whatnot.

Well I built it, I just don't know what to do with it lol. I definitely over spent, and have parts I don't need. But thankful none the less.
However I would ask you this.
What would you do if you had a PC these specs?

All I've done is download a few games: Crysis 2, Total War and that's it really.

What you should do is package it all up very carefully, and send it to this really great guy in Cardiff called Bob2004. I just know he'll be able to make very good use of it. In return he'll send you his PC which is much less good, so you'll no longer have parts you don't need, and everybody will be happy :D

Seriously, I have a similar PC right now and in the past year I've played precisely one game on it. And I started playing that one yesterday. I always thought the reason I stopped gaming was because my old PC couldn't play anything coming out any more. Turns out the reason I stopped gaming was because I was just that lazy. The processing power is nice if you ever decide you want to encode that rare DVD you found to x264 and upload it for friends, but that's about it.

Run 10x 1080p files simultaneously and see if it stutters. Double up if it doesn't. Bonus points if it's pr0nz/hentai at loud volumes.

Folding@home. Because you can

Open a word doc and write 100 lines starting with... "My computer so sexy because...."  can substitute 1 line by playing a Rammstein clip from youtube super loud.

Sing, sing a song of sixpence. Wait, that doesn't involve your computer beyond the extent of googling the lyrics. Do it anyways.

Research a lot of grimm's fairy tales. Email friends asking why people watered the stories down. Again, lots of google.

Find the hottest sexiest wallpapers you can find. Create a rotating desktop wallpaper. Bonus points if all pictures do not qualify for PG13.

Google video documentaries about why the world is fucked up. Honorable mentions are global warning, taiji dolphin slaughter and overpopulation.

Grab a webcam and create a huge long series on youtube. Make money and get your computer paid for.


If you don't do all of these at the same time, there's really no point.

play some games.
Folding@Home(this is the kind of program that profits on powerful rigs).
watch movies at 1080p resolutions. oh hey, you're in luck BBT has tons of those.
play some more games.
watch 1080p movies with Avisynth scripts to do frame interpolation to achieve 120fps.

Take a video of yourself in whatever resolution you want, even 120p is enough. Try playing it in your PC. I doubt even that can play it... ;D

Just do whatever interests you without really worrying if your computer can handle it (cause if it isn't something extreme, it probably can).

So wouldn't it use a different codec? Or not play at all?

Open Calculator-> Do 2 times 2-> Go to town on the enter key... making good use of your CPU's calculating power.

CCCP and K-Lite are still legit.
