Can you read Turkish by any chance? Because I am only getting info from one side of the propaganda, so I wonder if you know something I don't. I just read an article where the president declared that Turkish military is under his control now and that a bunch of generals had to resign which weakened the Turkish military influence. As I said, the lack of Turkish language doesn't permit me to find sources that tell the propaganda of the other side.

Also, if every Turk stays true to the Ataturk's ideals, then why did they elect an islam based party?

Should we make a new thread for this?  :-\
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Turkey has all of these things:

Parliament
Prime Minister
President
Chief of General Staff (of the armed forces)

The Chief of General Staff must report to the Prime Minister... but in the case of the 1980 coup d'état, they had given the PM and parliament all the time it needed to solve the social and economical issues. Since the Civilian government couldn't/wouldn't do anything... the military declared martial law and dissolved all the civilian politicians of their positions.

The current Prime minister knows that this could happen again... but Necdet Özel is the current acting Chief of General Staff. The reason I mentioned the 1980 coup d'état is because Özel became a full General that very same year and participated in the overthrow of the Turkish civilian government.

His beliefs now shows him as "separation of military and civilian government" type... but if Turkey ever truly moves away from Secularism, that does not stop him from planning another coup if they have not started it already. Don't be fooled by the Prime minister because the PM himself is trying to declare Turkey as an Islamic state so he can justify eradicating the Kurds out of southeastern Turkey without political opposition. There are major military bases in all the major cities of Turkey with thousands of troops in each base (Trabzon, where I'm from... has like 4 of these bases)... the PM can never truly get rid of the chance of another coup.

Back to PETA... PETA likes Turkey because we don't eat pork... so many pigs are spared. :P

Alas, PETA's reach is limited to North America, so they don't have a say in either Europe, nor Middle East. Also, everyone knows that Turks eat Kurds, Armenians and European first-born.  :P

This is possibly the most erratic marketing scheme I've seen in quite some time. Pretty hilarious in my opinion, I hope that it actually happens just so I can laugh at at it. Who are they targeting here? Animal rights activists that are also addicted to porn? I don't see much line up there.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

They are trying to appeal to people who are not yet animal rights activists.

I don't know it kinda gets my curiosity. I'd go.

BTW, this story is actually not surprising. The PETA has a long history of using nudity to promote their message and they have had great success with it, and but "great success" I mean they made the news and for them any publicity is good publicity.

Depressing but true.

Not like it makes me not want to eat meat.

Bah I'm pretty sure there are a few easily influenced kids out there who are gonna try veganism or vegetarianism because of this. The question is " Will it be enough to make up for all the guys who gets the urge to eat a juicy steak for their trouble?"

I wish I ate more steak, it's just so expensive(good cuts) and a pain to cook in a frypan.

Honestly though, I know someone that became vegan, did it wrong and had to go to the hospital so I can't really say YAY! for it.

That said, I dont like people wearing fur either, but its mostly because I think it looks dumb.
Real fur is still one of the warmest and most comfortable materials for cold weather gear.

And, I always thought my silver fox fur ushanka looked kinda awesome.

I'm not saying it's a good thing, just that it's PETA's goal and it makes sense from their point of view. Beside, if veganism is associated with some health risks, vegetarianism isn't. Of course PETA is promoting the first, not the second.

We do that often. It's great to live somewhere that's famous for beef, yet under recognized by the world because we're not big enough of a market.

<3 Costco for using local products.

40 bucks for a sirloin top chunk. Take it home, slice it into steaks... grill. This thing feeds my family of 4 at least 2 meals of "all we want to eat, steak". I'm talking like 14-24oz steaks too. Not wimpy 8-12oz sirloins they charge like 20 bucks for in the restaurants. I enjoy the occasional T-Bone steak as well. Though, overall, I can't personally justify the price difference to have a meat that's merely softer than sirloin.

PS: Our beef has a stronger beef flavor than I've tasted elsewhere in my travels.

We had a Texan come to our place, and we made the "in Texas, everything is bigger" joke. We did a steak bbq like normal and I cut my "normal" steak sizes (of approx 14-18oz). He thought that was a shitload of beef.

I likes my beef. I had a BBQ once, and using the above method, overall cost was 7 bucks per person. Meat was probably 3 of that. We had more than one of those chunks of meat, and one of my buddies (at the time dubbed, "The bottomless pit) consumed at least 50oz of steaks before tapping out. We made him a special one at the beginning (slow cooked on the BBQ to perfection because he was late) that was probably at least 30oz. He continued to consume 5-6 "mini steaks" afterwards and gave up stating he was too full to continue. PETA would have a field day at one of my BBQs. :)

Hey that shouldn't stop you! You can pic up a little coleman type charcoal grill for $20 at walmart. My apartment complex doesn't allow charcoal grills on decks or porches but I haggled with the landlord to let me use my little charcoal grill out on the lawn. Even a relatively cheap sirloin cut tastes delicious after grilling over charcoal.

If you wasted 5 seconds of your life reading this then you are an idiot and you are an even bigger idiot if you kept on reading looking for a period or something.
