IIRC the HDD industry wasn't happy with Hitachi because they weren't very responsible with pricing, which screwed the other companies having to artificially lower prices because of Hitachi.

^Hitachi shows them that HDDs shouldn't be expensive as hell and they get pissed about it XD well i loved Hitachi's low pricing =P

Seagate have problems with themselves. Long time ago I would recommend every Seagate drive but after quite a few stressful moments I would recommend WD drives.

I have 2 types of WD Caviar Green Power 2TB drives myself, one is for "common" use WD20EARS and second one is for "professional" purposes WD20EVDS.

The main difference is that WD20EARS works with 30-40*C temp. Is slightly slower than WD20EVDS (~ 10 Mb/s) and works very silent
On the other hand WD20EVDS works higher temp like 40-65*C (its ok) is vibrating like hell, works louder but faster. Is designed to work 24h/day 7days/week, I have 2 drives of that model and I'm glad to have them. One is for Anime second is for HD movies. The only drawback is that they have only 2 TB :D and for Anime collection is rather small (mine is over 3400 Gb and expanding)
