Toaru Majutsu no Index - Movie
Saras:
Watched and was... underwhelmed. The whole thing felt like, "how can we get all of the popular characters together" when there was absolutely no reason for them to take part in it.

(click to show/hide)That seems to be a thing in anime/manga nowadays.

Kanzaki is a saint. Saints are known for producing miracles. Breathing in space is a miracle. So is surviving intact the fall back to earth. Looke dhigh enough to me to burn up on re-entry. That is if it didn't take a day or two to fall. 33,000 miles is still a long distance at 32/sec/sec and topping out at 100mph. Maybe she helicoptered using her katana??? lol
I was not expecting to see Warner Brothers. Thought that maybe it was out retail. nahhhhhhh
While watching, I felt as if I was watching a three episode story arc. But this time we got all our characters in this one. It was a railindex thing not one or the other. So that was cool, to me.
Nikkoru:
Well, just finished it.
It has the worst qualities of Index, a scattered nonsensical plot and too many characters to bother with. A lot of movement, but not much actually happening. It had ideas - not great ideas, but still - it just tried to use all of them at once rather than taking one and developing it. It's a shame, I think Index works for a movie format since most story arcs are about that long anyways and they can edit out a lot of the annoying material while spending more money on the action sequences.
The worst part is they wasted a villain which actually had potential, she had a simple and sympathetic motivation and conceivably some depth, but you only get a few minutes with her and most of it is stereotypical villain dialogue. While the other characters they introduced were just bland with predictable conclusions to their... character arcs, I guess.
On the plus side, those Tron/GitS vehicles were kind of cool and Stiyl Magnus gets a better role than he's had in a while. The fanservice wasn't too distracting, it only really bothered me since it served to increased the screen time of said bland characters.

I enjoyed it quite a bit for the most part. The one thing that bothered me was that Misaka seemed to know the singer (forgot the name, watched it the day it came out) but we never got to know from when..? If it was in the anime please enlighten me. I did watch them all and have no recollection of this. Although I have to say my memories get overwritten with new anime every day :P
