A good Tablet for watching unconverted anime (.mkv,.avi, 720/1080)?

I guess Ill have to give the 10bit files another go. You cant really compare the two cpus as they have completely different command sets that are better at some things and worse at others plus some hardware may be used even in software mode. But no I doubt 4 1.4ghz arm cores could out perform say a 2.8ghz core2duo in computational power.

Rather than downloading the whole series in the link i gave, there's a file there "[ANE] Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai - Full Length Opening [BDRip 720p x264 Vorbis].mkv" that's only 150MB, that i can attest does work on the TF101 MX Player, and you can try it on the Prime. Also let me know if it's playable on the Prime. It's lag city on the TF101.

Oh sweet, 10bit does work now with MX player(and it looks really nice). But as you say its a bit laggy, guess they haven't refined the code enough but even if they did it still might not work as well as 8bit files as I think there is still a degree of hardware acceleration even when using software encoding which wont work for the 10bit files.(I don't know enough though)

Okay.... <me> waiting for Tegra 4.
namaiki:
I just recalled this thread after noticing that MX Player updated itself.
The latest MX Player seems to be awesome. A lot smoother now and completely usable on my HTC Sensation for the anime I tested + the styled subtitles look perfect as well. I haven't tested any 10bit stuff though.

Same here on Desire Z, no matter what rom I try, hardware in MX Player is choppy. However, since the phone doesn't have an HDMI output, I solved the problem by not watching HD on a 3.7" 800x480 screen ;)

True, but I'm not bothered to re-download or convert my 720p stuff. Dice Player plays 720p smooth in HW mode. Ideally I'd have an android app that does HW acceleration as well as SSA/ASS subtitles.

MRI:
Any tablet with Tegra 3 installed .
Tegra 3 have 4 core cpu plus it have Neon thingy which do only decoding video, only shot for 10bit .
as for mkv and simple videos then every dual core tablet will work.
p.s. do only HW decoding since it save power and more quality colors , and SW only for 10bit crap.
Rizirdo:
i have a cheap Velocity Cruz tab. wors good with the 780P get digital blocks discoloration on 1080. but its good for being $100. Plays MKVs and other formats.
