I've recently bought a Google Nexus 7 and it really eats up anime. With the latest MX Player 1.7 there hasn't been any anime (720/1080, 10bit) that hasn't played flawlessly.

The only caveat is the 16GB memory. But this is easily remedied by rooting the tablet (takes about 10 minutes to root it, lots of guides on the net)  and getting a OTG USB cable and a USB memory stick. This lets you mount the memory stick as an external drive. I have a 64GB memory stick so I have a total of 80GB of available storage.

That sounds nice. How much is a Nexus 7 in your country? Btw, 16gb isn't a problem for watching anime. Even if you watch in high resolution, 16gb could fit some series and have free space, and when you watch them, you can just transfer more from your PC.

I paid $250 US for the 16GB version.

You'd be surprised how quickly 16GB gets eaten up by installing apps, games, music, manga, anime and movies. Having the extra space available from a USB stick really comes in handy when I travel.

I'm in the same boat. I've almost filled up 2x 2Tb drives. I either need to buy more HDs (they are still expensive), start burning (time consuming) or deleting (feels like a waste of bandwidth to delete them).

I have almost 100 gigs of just music so I am doomed to never fit my collection on an mp3 player. Fast forward to the future where we have global gigabit wifi so cloud storage will be viable

not gonna be possible, because by the time everything is nano scale and there'd be no such thing as wifi, most likely interconnected particles instead that has petabits of bandwidth. and its free.

Wow, things are cheap in your country. In my country everything (regarding technology) is insanely expensive, and yet salaries are extremely low (minimum national wage is about 150$ monthly). Well, anyway, 250$ is an awesome price, i paid  400$ for my iPod touch 4g.

If you think you have a low amount of space, i'll tell you mine: 139 GB on E (totally), 39 GB on drive C and 119 GB on D. That's it.

The 160GB iPod Classic has been on the market for years now. You're probably an Apple hater though, right?

Though I recently upgraded my old 80GB iPod Video to 240GB. Well, I kinda broke it during the upgrade so I bought someone's half-dead 30GB and got that one to work with the upgrade. I don't see myself running out of space anytime soon, since my collection grows extremely slowly.

Not anytime soon. 1gbps global wifi, or at least 1gbps city wifi? Doesn't seem like it should take more than a decade to implement in smaller countries.

It's not that I don't like ipods because they're apple (even though I hate apple as a company) but because they sound like garbage compared to my cowon.

well hey, it ain't bad to dream.
even a CIR 100mbps city-wide wifi for "free" ain't half as bad.

Have you read manga on it at all?
I'm curious to know how bad/good it might be to read manga on a 7" screen.

^i'm reading on a 3", zoom in on parts you can't read well, the rest it looks much sharper on it than on a bigscreen, and i like it.

Its been great for manga. The screen size is perfect. Images and text are sharp and easy to read. I've never felt the need to zoom in to read anything. Also the size of the tablet is comfortable to hold. I've been using the SCViewer app for manga.

I picked up a ASUS transformer Infinity yesterday and I love it. THe screen is beautiful and it seems to handle what few 1080p items I have thrown at it.

EDIT: playback is better than my asus eeepc netbook, and a nicer screen too boot. I may just sell my netbook.

Got an iPad 3 for work (Boss got tired of me continiously calling him to test a site on his iPad). But didn't know what to do with it outside of testing my sites, i figure i'll give it a try anyway. The thing about my videos is that they're spread across several PC's through shared folders. But most of them are on the routers harddrive.

Videos that played fine on my TF300 wouldn't play on the iPad, will play but no sound, or stutter badly. I'm using OPlayer Lite but wondering if anybody can recommend an alternative. The player has to be able to play videos over SAMBA.

Best player so far for anime and movies in general is mxplayer, only one that does 10-bit correctly. A TF700 or TF300 is probably the best tablet, TF300 is basically a slower lower res version of the TF700. I got the 64gb TF700 for 460 and the dock for the TF201 is compatable with the TF700 so i got it for 100. also if you want to compare HDD space
