Why do I need a Xbox 360?
« on: October 06, 2011, 03:17:16 PM »
Focusing on games, what are some of the best exclusives of the 360?

I know of the Gears of Wars games although they don't interest me much. Witcher 2 most definitely, would buy a machine just for this.

Any other great exclusive games for the 360? I already have a PS3.

on the question of Why do you need a Xbox 360? the answer is because PS3 sucks sweaty balls.

But in reality you don't need a gaming console at all. You just want one. (or two)

When life gives you lemons, you clone those lemons and make super lemons.

Basically, there are no good exclusives for the 360. They all went multi-platform after a while, the PS3 has better exclusives. PC has most and best of exclusives.

ToV was released  September 17, 2009 for PS3 with a better version than the 360 one. So that doesn't count as an exclusive, pretty fun game, never did finish it though. :p

I would say that PS3 has most best exclusives. So that is the only console worth getting IF you are into asian games (which are usually the exclusive ones)

Xbox 360 has very few games that are not on PC or PS3. So I guess PS3 + gaming PC is a great combo.

Also The Witcher 2 plays best on PC. (The graphics on PC are amazing)

EDIT: sosseress beat me more or less to it.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Xbox 360 had a lot of great exclusives near its launch and a few years after. Then the PS3 took over and has had the better exclusives since then. (If you exclude the PC platform that has beaten both in both time periods.)

Though if you ask me the Wii has the most fun exclusives that I have yet to play. (Since I have played the ones I wanted on the other platforms.) I should look at that wii emulator again, looked promising ages ago. Wow the Wii emulator works with the titles I want, wonder how controls are...

edit, no wait, can't accept another time sink.

Well, technically yeah. But the PS3 version never made it out of japan.

If only it has english subtitles...

I don't really want to start another flame war or anything but recent exclusives on PC? Did I sleep for last 6 years? Because I can't think of any game that came out only on PC in recent years (except point'n'click adventures and minecraft). No wait, there was The Witcher which actually was due on consoles but in the end never made it. Oh, and Starcraft 2 and Shogun 2.

As for good X360 exclusives. I only ever wanted to play Forza Motorsport and first Dead Rising (how come this didn't end up on a PC?). Oh, and Deadly Premonition. Sadly only Japan has DP for PS3.

PC exclusives, 90% of all MMOs. Then which time period do you want titles from? Too many to list otherwise. (Though cell phones are cutting into several areas that classically had PC exclusives.) (I personally feel the inifinty engine probably has the most solid PC exclusives.)

edit, also any console prior to the xbox has no exclusives since you can play them on the PC. :p

Oh, MMOs, no wonder I didn't notice. I hate MMOs. And we are talking about last 6 years.

The PC mainly had great RTS and MMO exclusives. Not only that, but games that were multiplatform were better on PC because of mods. One particular example was Fallout and Oblivion. Only downside to PC games was that some, if not most, were influenced by console designs. RAGE is a particular example among the many PC games that suffered from this. As for getting an Xbox, not worth it at this stage, seeing as how multiplatform games require multiple discs for the Xbox now (RAGE, LA Noire, BF3). The only advantage Xbox has is a bigger community for Call of Duty than the PS3. I own the PS3 and gaming PC combo and I'm liking the games that will soo to be coming out (I'm getting MW3 for PS3 because that game only seems natural on the consoles). BF3 and Skyrim will be better on PC for obvious reasons.

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pc5oLqpenpT78W87pMfgvBA 11/15/05 to current, orange ones are exclusives. This is FAR from a comprehensive list of PC releases. Smaller indy titles are missing in many many cases. Then you have games in genres like eroge that don't really feature on gamespot, or JP/KR only releases.

Hoo, I thought half of those games are older than 6 years. My memory is really bad. I would argue about being good games for about 95% of this list (and including your indy games) but that's more up to personal prefe... THEY MADE VICTORIA II?! Why I know nothing about this?! F**k, I need to get this game ASAP. I just hope they didn't fuck it up, like HoI III and EU III.

^ What he said. If your okay with wasting 200-300+ dollars on a whole new system and dump extra money on their games, go ahead and do that. If you have a good PC or needs a graphic card upgrade (they're cheap and better than the 360 and PS3) then upgrade that, I'd rather not waste a dime on a 360 - I was going to purchase it a few times just for those nice games, then I saw they were coming to the PS3 or/and on PC. Meh ... not worth it.

PS3 has the upper hands when it comes to console exclusives.

While disregarding titles like Crysis 1 and 2, Starcraft 2 (never heard of that one?) The entire Dawn of War series, the entire Total war series, STALKER, Supreme Commander and ArmA 1 and 2.

I am sure nobody heard anything about those games at all  ::)

Saying that PC has no good exclusive games or few exclusive games is the most ignorant thing I read today... and I read Osmo's posts just a few hours ago.

Seriously, Ace, I thought you were smarter than this (or perhaps you just feel like trolling, idk). If you would quote my WHOLE post and not just the part you disagree with it would be nice.

I already wrote that I thought that over half of those games are older than 6 years because my memory is as shit as it can possibly be. I also mentioned SC2 in my post earlier. And whether those games are good for you it's just your personal preference. I don't really like RTSs, I prefer strategy games like EU II or Zeus: MoO. Crysis is one of the worst FPSs I have ever played but someone can love it, I don't mind (and Crysis is not PC exclusive, 2 is on consoles and 1 will be released soon).

And I also didn't say that PC has NO (or only few) good exclusives at all. I was talking about last 6 years period which I should change to 2 years after Sosseres kindly pointed my mistake.

Also if somepony didn't notice I don't care on what system the game is, I care what game it is. So I base my opinion of consoles having better exclusives in some periods of time just based on my personal preference (well, I actually didn't count them but I'm pretty sure they would win).

Young warriors, you must defend the system you chose because if that system is not the best it would mean you were stupid. Defend it with your life!
All you have to do is study it out. Just study it out.

Shogun 2: Total War
Magicka
Hard Reset
Starcraft 2
WoW: Cata
Civilization 5
Napoleon: Total War
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
Metro 2033
Supreme Commander 2
Arma II
Final Fantasy XIV Online

I don't know about you... but that's a lot more exclusives than what came out on my PS3 in the past 2 years. Did I miss anything guys?
