Wait, was Japan the only country infected by the virus? Are you guys gonna make me go re-watch episode one, to listen for one 5 second snippet?

FYI viruses mutate, quickly. There would be no guarantees that a virus would remain immutable once released into he wild. That's why they are so freaked by H1N1 avian flu virus.

We're doing a lot of speculating on the knowledge base of the creators. And what if they chose to use their artistic license to create their world, that does not have all the same laws regarding viruses as the one we inhabit?

Not that you guys are not actually correct. You could well be.

Just watched episode five.. It was pretty good although the ecchi things were kind of annoying, but I think this is Shounen so it's understandable.

But that didn't really bother me that much. On the other hand there was a part that I really disliked.

But besides that it was a good episode, I like the new characters it introduced and I sort of like the wheel chair girl a bit more. Maybe understand would be better, I really don't think I like her too much.

I think the whole point of the test wasn't to test Shu on whether or not he is capable of being part of the Funeral Parlor, but showing the other members what he is capable of, because when Shu was first introduced, most of the member kind of mocked him and disregarded him.

Just a few more days and we'll get to see Shu pushing some buttons!

I also want to know if Funeral Parlor tinkered with the button device or not.  Having Shu totally naked in that room implies that they did a full search of him because it would have been prudent to do that.  Since they don't know for sure if Shu has the pen device as a willing accomplice to GHQ or not, they are keeping silent on the matter.  I also wonder if Shu knows if his mother works for GHQ or not.  He doesn't seem to regard his mother's opinions at all in the show.

We know she's a scientist, and that is all we know, I'm curious about that too.

It's also possible that the pen he got back is not THE pen.

Lmbo I almost forgot about the mom... I know her job must hold some sort of importance but if I forgot she's the mother of Shu, I think that's a parenting failure... And the funniest thing is that Shu hasn't said anything about home yet.. And we all know how he can be lacking of a back bone at times. But hey, parents are almost non-existent in anime anyways. On the other hand I feel that in this anime Shu's mother will have huge influence on the story later on.

I was actually half expecting the wheel chair girl to screw around with the pen and call in GHQ, but she gave it back to him..

Now of course Shu remembers the proper sequence regarding the pen. Me, I bet I would have either forgot it, or clicked the different ink quills. And I probably would have taken it apart. Several times.

This aspect of storytelling always gets me. There is always some plot device that just seems a bit stretched to actually have someone doing.

Are you deaf as well as blind, woman? I'm not a carpet to walk over and I
distinctly heard myself speak. If I pinch your bottom, you can slap my face, but until I do, I expect a civil word for a civil word!

Hmm that could very well be a possibility, I was under the impression Gai was a younger man.

According to MAL Gai is 17. Though I'd put him closer to 25.

So, episode 6. Guilty Crown has just reached Darker than Black levels of awesome. I'm blown away. Even if some parts were a bit lame (Gai vs mech) everything else more than made up for it. This already feels like a complete series, there's been so much action and character development to this point.

Also loving how the ending credits keep changing.

Are the pattern marks on Shinbugi's face tattoos or from a past Apocalypse Virus infection?   The blocky overlapped-rectangle pattern of the marks resembles how the virus looks on Stage 4 patients as seen in the quarantine ward of one of the GHQ buildings.  From the looks of Shinbugi's glasses, haircut, and clothing, he's pretty stylish.  A lot of the Funeral Parlor gear and consumables is probably funded by Inori's earnings, so I wonder why there is no news of GHQ going after Egoist members and their bank accounts.  I guess the Egoist music group sells pretty well in the 15 to 18 age group which implies that their society has cured their version of the RIAA legal problem.

^ In anime where teens have money but suspiciously don't have an apparent bread winner or steady source of income.
them not needing to use P2P for music is very probable. and now that i mentioned it. maybe the same goes for FP too.

BTW, anyone got any idea why Commie translated Funeral Parlor as "Undertaker"? I'm thinking because the former sounds
too fabulous for Gai.

I sent them a few emails around ep 2... looks like they don't give a ****... It does get annoying because in episode two or three when Gai had his little tv broadcast, he was talking about Funeral Songs given by the "undertakers" which should be Funeral Parlor.

Damn it.. I got the CoalGuys one by mistake this time.. oh well

Ok, this weeks episode:
Not sure if lol intended, but I sure did.

Gai - Should receive oscar for acting
Inori - Oscar for Dual roleplay
Shu - for being idiot

Garishu, this one just popped into my mind, but at any rate, well be seeing a lot of Deus Ex in this show.

Officially- Sub plot ended, Main plot starting.

wait, so which is it? either way. checked whiners.pro.

seems that doki's the next best group for this. doki's slower than commie. but at least i won't have to mentally edit out "undertaker" while watching.
which makes me regret getting Hadena's subs for C3 (they were the first release on 7, on animesenshi at least).
these guys really have weird wording choices for some reason.

even though it usually has to be via his way.  Well, I guess if that had happened, the series would either be over or take a fantastic new twist as

the Butt Hacker, Wheelchair Girl, and Major Pedoclown.

Was this scene from episode one meant to be a homage to Aerith in Final Fantasy 7?   When I saw it, that was my first thought as I had a rush of nostalgia for Aerith inside the dark church with the light beams shining down to her and the plants around her.
