uh what i thought was Shu, "died". Inori wanted him to live so she gave everything left of her to Shu. hence why he was blind.

If you were watching, you would've seen that the void caused Mana to go blind, consequently making Inori blind, and because Shu's void absorbs everything around it, he became blind after absorbing Inori.

Hmm, right now I am need of a nice new anime to watch and I was thinking of picking this up or BRS. Which do you think I should go for?

If it's GC, which group's release is the best (720p of course).

I have to say, that last episode was really disappointing to me. I'm left with the impression that they spent so much on music, character models, and animation (which were fantastic) that they didn't give enough of a damn about the actual story writing. It ended up really rushed and the ending was disappointing.

1. Final fight with Gai felt really weak. What was it actually? Gai slashes at Shu 3 times, Shu falls down. Somehow magically Inori comes to his rescue and he gets the sword too. They clash once, and then Shu slashes Gai and Gai pretty much dies. The funny part? I didn't simplify the above. That was literally it. I expected far more epic animation than that.

2. Everyone gets screwed in the end. Who really has a happy ending? Shu loses Inori and his eyes and seemingly his powers. Gai and Mana die. Daryl loses his only friend, who came out of nowhere. Kuhouin gets shot, though apparently it healed. I suppose Funnel had a happy ending, with those new robot babies.

3. Load of holes which I didn't entirely get. Why did Mana suddenly change back to Inori? Why did Inori/Mana go blind? Gai thought the only way to free Mana was to let her complete her Apocalypse? Didn't she end up not completing it anyway? I thought it stopped halfway with the flower and Inori singing. Didn't entirely make sense to me anyway.

4. Again, everything felt rushed like hell. In a 22 episode series they shouldn't have wasted so much time earlier on with small plot lines and tiny details.

I dunno I had high hopes for GC. Probably too high. Realistically, if they did this visual novel style and made a new route with the same characters, that might make for a freaking nice show. People call Geass a trainwreck, but honestly I kinda preferred that show's ending to this one.

Yeah simply because it actually had an ending that wrapped up everything. I still have no idea how Inori lost her sight, it was obvious that the Apo Virus infested her eyes, but since Shu absorbs it her eyes were free, so if he loses all the parts he absorbed from, then he shouldn't fucking live at all, he absorbed APO Virus from people all over the world.

THAT MAKES NO SENSE!

CG at least had a proper explanation as to hwy he chose this kind of ending to himself, he clearly explained what will happen, but here ? WTF?? The Ending had probably more plot holes than the entire show.

Go with Black Rock Shooter, honestly, it's 1000000000000000000 0000000000000000000 0000000^100000000000000000000 better.

@Xtras
1. all big bad Gai mode was only act. All he wanted is to revive Mana and free here. Gai explained that before death.
Somehow magically Inori comes to his rescue and he gets the sword too. That flower, was like avatar of whats left of Inori, and that flower born from Inori tear before Mana took over there body(1 ep back). And that alien thin explained that kinda those crystals are alive, this is why he was able to get Inori sword from crystal flower.
That was literally it. I expected far more epic animation than that. what point of animating 20 min of useless fight, when all previous episodes was taunt for shu to come and kill him.

2. Load of holes which I didn't entirely get. Yes it has holes, but sometimes is better to keep something in mystery instead of revealing reverting.
Why did Mana suddenly change back to Inori? Mana and Inori was in same body, so when mana died Inori was free to use whats left from her ding body(unless you are speaking about other part).
Gai thought the only way to free Mana was to let her complete her Apocalypse? he didint thought, it was only way to free, and dont forgt death part, because she is dead :D
Because sanity is seriously overrated
Guilty Crown
The right to use my friend as a weapon.
That is the sinful crown I shall adorn

I'd like to believe that Inori isn't dead and Shu isn't blind, rather Inori and Shu's soul are in Da'at, together. But that's probably wishful thinking. I hope the OVA explains all the things that were left unexplained, or at least give us a clear hint as to what happened.

That's what makes the ending great for me. Sick and tired of puke-inducing happy-happy rainbow endings. I like it when a series has the balls to go against the norm. Like with Shu. Fake arm, no vision, no girl. Hell yeah!

I don't want a happy or bad, I want conclusive ending where everything is explained. This year is full of disappointments already when it comes to endings, not just in anime, but majority of games and anime have poor endings. I am glad they finished Shana in such a brilliant way, as well as ZNT:F but this is just plain stupid.

I went with Commie. Didn't do an elaborate comparison though.

After talking to more people a lot of people seemed to have really like Guilty Crown overall, though with a peeve or two about the ending. Especially the people who marathoned it after it finished seemed to take away a better impression than those who watched weekly. I guess only thing to do is to wait a year or two, forget all about it, and then marathon it again. We'll probably have the OVA by then too.

Yes, I'll agree with that. I watched it weekly and was less than happy with a few moments, particularly the middle of the series... as it felt thrown together. But after watching it again at normal speed, that part no longer seemed rushed. I enjoyed much more the second time around since I could actually remember all the details from episodes' previous.

Maybe I should try marathoning it....part of the frustration of GC for me was, waiting, every week, hoping that the show's pedigree would finally show itself, that the storytelling and characters would finally match the visuals and soundtrack-- and then watching nearly every episode disappoint me.

I think the expectations that I had for GC-- especially after its first two episodes-- just kinda killed the show for me. I should probably try to rewatch again with more of a blank slate.

After reading some posts, i decided i shouldnt watch this, especially after reading your post, probably because someone with 20k posts on this forums, must have seen lots of anime including this one and the fact that most of you here found it disappointing about the overall course of action (plot holes for me are a no from start); thx
