I just bought a used hard drive, and ran Recuva to see if the person had overwritten every sector of the drive or not.

As he had not, I found about 110000 files scattered throughout the drive, and was just about to restore everything, but managed to stop myself as I realised that there may be files that are bad for my computer stored on it. Is there any way to check if there are before I restore the files?

Yea seriously... It's cool you found files but I'd just format it again, and do a better job off erasing everything. Or maybe you could explore it Sandboxed, use a sanbox progrom restore those files and explore within that...

DataRecovery shows filenames and format type of the files, but it sometimes doesn't have enough data to restore original files data so sometimes it's a blank file.
