In my opinion if you have the opportunity to go overboard as exchange student then GO! At least all my friends who've been one have liked it. Also there is nothing to lose and it's an unique experience!

Well if I fill out all the required paperwork and stuff, show an interest in going, and keep mg GPA above 3.0, then I could qualify to be a foreign exchange student there. Best part about it is that if I qualify, it is all expenses paid. Germany, along with France, Italy, and Japan, is one of the four places I want to go before I die, so I think I'll shoot for it

Believe me, being able to speak german isn't half as funny as it sounds... i've been able to my whole life, and never found anything funny about it... But that may as well be my lack of humor

Tho at least in the places I have been in the US where I have ran into street gangs, I kinda was knowingly putting myself in their environment for one reason or another. Its not hard at all to avoid them if you want to. (that is as someone traveling. If you are unfortunate enough to have to live in the area tho, well, then that sucks.)
