GL on your interview Ace. What industry are you getting into?
Which one of them?
To answer your question I am looking for a job that requires my expertise in electronics. With the traditional industry being moved to Asia I have to either switch to the installation and service type of job, or get one that requires a broader field of qualification. Going on interview tomorrow that required electronics, electrics, mechanics qualifications. They expect the applicants to have one of those, the other two will be taught.
Basically going into that direction, but still staying somewhat in the electronics field.
Service jobs will always be in demand, so at least if you go that way, there's some security. A friend of mine here has a lot of experience with electronics, and a related vocational degree. He worked for Lucent Technologies for years, then later Agere, until the plant he worked at was shut down. He maintained a lot of expensive equipment -- as he explained it, if he found & addressed a problem that saved the company $10,000, it was worth little more than a pat on the back and a thank you. Since the economy crashed, he's had very little luck finding anything in his field other than short term contract work. Sounds like you, at least, still have a shot at some good opportunities in your area.
