Someone suggest me some big companies that have done well out of the recession. I'm trying to write a report, but none of the companies I've come up with have been big enough for me to easily get hold of proper statistics/analysis for them
Aim for industries that are "recession proof", or that people who have little money will go to.
Examples of each would be high end wine and Walmart.
Don't have any stats for you, just figuring that's probably the case. Also check out some of the larger companies in Canada, I know that we didn't go nearly as down as everyone else, and had some big gains when people started to have capital again.
I don't know any large companies in Canada

But specifically it's for the Marketing module of my course, basically for each of four possible routes to success in the current harsh economic climate (Flight to Value, Flight to Quality, The Need for Hope, The Need to Connect), I have to identify a product/service, from different organisations, that have been successful over the past three years, and justify/explain my reasoning.
So basically, I can only pick one company for being really, really cheap

I'll get there eventually. McDonalds or something will work for Value, and although it leaves a horrible taste in my mouth to say it, I can always use Apple for quality (ugh). Google might work for the need to connect too.
...maybe I should just get on with it instead of using this thread as an excuse to procrastinate.
