Ugh just worked from 6pm to 4am  removing snow from around a hospital.

3 inches of snow to be removed from every single sidewalk around the hospital, two of it's parking garages, and 3 parking lots.

Was awful for the first couple of hours while I was hand shoveling, and then I got to use an ATV with a snow plow mounted on it... that was some great fun except for the wind chill factor when I reached 18+ MPH. I was almost convinced that my fingers had frostbite.

Nah, if I was going to puke, it would have been at around 6pm.  I sort of vaguely remembering yelling at the TV that I didn't want to be drunk anymore.  I took some ibuprofen and now it's time to drink some water.  I did polish off about half a bottle of Glenmorangie this afternoon.

In what way does the type of book matter...? Is it important to see the drawings on paper instead of on a computer screen?

...even if you have a really expensive monitor for artists which is calibrated to reflect reality as close as possible?

A monitor is still only one size. It never changes it's size or scale, you don't get the feel of how the artist wanted the work to be displayed, just how your monitor has depicted it. You don't get the feel of different papers having been used for different pieces of work etc etc.

Do you mainly draw/paint on paper or digitally with something like a Cintiq?

...or both, by scanning it and continuing in whatever software you use?

A little of both. All of my lineart is currently done by hand but some I colour digitally and some by hand.

I'm getting a book I put together with all my art in it tomorrow. I'm excited to see it as there's something much nicer about seeing it all together in one place like that than say in my files or on my website.

The only thing preventing me from buying all art books is that the size of the printed drawings is restricted to the area of the book. I would gladly like the original size/resolution they were drawn in instead :]
