Fairy Tail is really good, even filler episodes are great.

I'm waiting for 720p, 480p does not satisfy me.
I do wonder however what you mean, so I will have to restrain myself some more.

Bleach hit its peak at episode 20, D Gray Man episode 60, Fairy Tail amazingly seems to be entering the 150 mark with no degradation in plot quality.

It's probably due to the fact that so far they have been sticking to the manga pretty closely with only few minor exceptions, and filler eps are good IMO.

In my experience all really good anime is usually 24 eps. Just saw Durarara!! and while it's a pity that it was only 24 eps + few extras, I understand that it would become stale and boring if they kept on.

It's best when series quit while they are still awesome or when a single main plot is concluded.

Really? Code Geass, Gundam, etc are all popular, long(-er than 24 episodes) animes. I'd say 50 episode if you have a really good plot which will go on for a long time like Code Geass.

Strangely most of the high tier anime are 12 eps, [C]ontrol, Higashi no Eden, Jyu Oh Sei, Asatte no Houkou, Black Blood Brothers, Black Lagoon, Grenadier, Sisters of Wellber, Madoka, Angel beats, The world god only knows.

Please don't use word "popular". After all Naruto, Bleach and Pokemon are "popular" *gets shivers on the back of the spine*

My favourite series are usually 24 - 30 eps, like Cowboy Bebop, Scrapped Princess, Last exile, Trigun, Wolf's Rain, Noir, Samurai Champloo, Ergo Proxy, Trinity Blood, Gantz, Claymore and a whole other bunch that I can't think of now.

Sure there are some exceptions like Great Teacher Onizuka and Fullmetal Alchemist, but most as a rule it is under 30 eps, usually 24-26 and sometimes a few special episodes.

Also if Death Note would be only 25 ep long, it would be perfect. I regret watching episodes after L was no longer there.

^ on Death Note they rushed the end, to the point L dies, they cover only 45% of the manga, then the fit the last 55% into 10 eps.

and I think most of the good series are 12eps - 50eps. above that, rarely.

YMMV again. For me, 12 - too short. 24 - short but can live with it. 50 - perfect if stuck to plot.

Hikaru no Go. Not being a Go enthusiast or even knowing about it before I saw the series, I couldn't really enjoy it.

Maybe because it is a textbook example of why series should stop after the main plot is resolved?

I mean I don't mind the approach of Last Exile. They finished the first series and now they made a new one with new main cast and new plot. That works in my opinion, more series should follow that example.
