We tried making our own version of that as part of a uni project to pitch for our end of year book. Since we didn't win the pitch only a few got filled in. It was called 'what kitty did' and I think kitty flew a kite into a power cable while sitting on a mans shoulder, was a jedi and fought a tentacle monster.

Kelvin makes but would be kind hard to use on a everyday basic. What about a system where 1000 degree is the melting point of water? You could also throw away the decimal numbers and count only in hexadecimal (binary would be too hard to read). Water melt at 100 degree(or 256 in decimal), the equivalent of a kilometer to a meter would have a ratio of 256, etc.
