Hey, maybe it's different with guys. People judge us. When they see us scrolling by some slightly NSFW picture (or sometimes just innocent anime), they label us pervs.
Might be that, I had a nice wallpaper once, Asuka Langley in her EVA suit, first time my mom saw it years ago, her reaction was "oh you have a nude girl as your wallpaper ?" I asked her to show anything nude about her, she spent 4 seconds looking and then, "okay okay, not nude", told her to apologize, she got angry, and I said "you accused me of porn, apologize or never talk to me again!". She saw i was serious and stopped doing anything like that, in fact, she also watches Anime now and has a nice collection of walls.
People are ignorant, and will remain, until you force them to admit mistakes. Otherwise stereotypes will be never broken.
