It originated from Alt+Q+Q, the keyboard shortcut to quit a game in Warcraft 2. It's what you would typically use while ragequitting. So when you were dominating someone, you would tell them something like "QQ noob". Coincidentally it also looks like crying eyes. This same context is still used in games, where bad players whining or complaining are mocked as QQing.

In non-gaming contexts, QQ is still generally considered to be a mockery of crying, implying sarcasm when everyone around you seems to be butthurt. If you use it in place of T_T or ;_; (which imply it's you who is crying) you might get called out for it.

I feel somewhat relieved that I gave up studying chemical process 6 years ago considering that I would have finished just a year before the Montreal East Shell refinery closed. Now that would have sucked. I don't really like my current job but at least I was completely unaffected by the economic crisis. I wanted to study Computing all along but computer technicians in 2004 couldn't find jobs. My second choice was to become an engineer and since I was the best of my chemistry class I thought it would be a good idea to start as a chemical process technician and then ask whoever would hire me to sponsor my university studies. Glad that didn't work out. Programming is much better.
