passwords is to go too far, its only annoying after 1 month.  Im the only one in my family that watch anime anyway so no need to worry. the rest of the family is either too afraid to use my computer or dont care unless i touch bad things.

have a sister with 3 kids and loads of cousins.. im the role model for them so..

I have a friend who went ahead and installed special software in his laptop, he has a webcam installed in it so he used that to his advantage, the web cam checks during the login process if he is the correct person entitled to the laptop account, if not, it auto shut's down, pretty neat but then again, it can be cheated.

that is on the limit to paranoid, if not over the limit O.o

a friend i talked to alot earlier used a case protection, enabled a password if the case was opened and to boot up you have to type the right one. Use teh right password and the check turned off and all was ok. Remove the battery didnt remove the password check.

best protection would be to have windows on a usb stick like a live cd. No usb no boot.

Meh, he did it for the lulz but I proved him it's faulty and easy to bypass.

There are companies that use similar solutions for safety procedures though. I can understand that in a company, but personally, a login password is usually enough. I use boot-up passwords for a few years now, kind of got used to it by now and I'm 100% sure no one will be able to steal any data from me even if they steal my laptop, until they hack out the HDD, same with the PC. There is always a way.

Boot up password have a big fail, if you take out the battery for 30 sec or so and put it back (the small one on the motherboard) the password is gone and they can boot up. The idea is good thou.

The best way to be sure noone can boot up your computer is to make a live cd on usb, when you are away or someone is around your computer take the live usb stick with you. They cant boot up since there is no os to boot up on the hdd.   ;)

To my surprise, only people who are considered as computer geeks know about the MB battery, common thieves have no idea about that shit. People usually find out about the battery when it dies and the tech support tells them about it.

i used that trick alot when i messed up bios settings, there is a switch you can change and reset all but i always took the battery..

the word computer geek is hard to define now since 80%of everything we do nowadays is with computers. There is a few left of the old generation but soon everyone will be computer geeks ..

Have a place i go to once a week and i see alot of people that cant even turn on a computer. In a few years those people will have it hard. Everyone is going over to computer controlled machines and systems, the times of old fashion hard labor is about to become a part of history. Too bad since i kinda like to work and dont have to worry about a computer. I use it so much during my free time so its fun to have a non computer related work.

It's not all that actually, those people that have a problem with turning computers on are people that don't want to have anything to do with them. I can accept that mindset, but sooner or later computers will be in literally everything.

I'm currently making a project relating with that in my free time (I do a lot of stuff with my free time so it takes a lot of time to finish everything, but my website seems to be working better and better) that will pretty much include a computer in day-to-day routine, it has a big chance of integrating computer on a higher level than a cell phone, though it will still be sort of hand held.

sounds intresting, the bigger and more complicated the project is the more fun it is (atleast i think that way)

The people having problems with turning on computers would also be struggling with turning on TVs :P.

Especially when your projects are done exactly the way you want it :D.

Its strange but they seem to have it very easy use a remote control and watch tv but push a button and poke around in a computer seem to scare them. Like they can destroy something that easy in a computer :)

I wouldn't have it any other way, My website will not be going Live until I get the design working exactly how I want it to (if it breaks IE compatibility, then even more so)
Every time I do something it has to be the way I want it to be. After all, humans only know around 5% of their limits, so if I push I will get what I want, there may be limits now, but if I dig deep enough I'll find an answer I need.

After all, humans only have the word "Impossible" in dictionaries because it exists, not that it means anything for humans, what we can't do now can be done later on, only because current technology doesn't allow it now. All you have to do is push harder.

On that note I just fixed the website image for background, should stretch, tell me in my topic or comment how it feels like.

I'd go farther than that, there are as many ideas as there is space for a grain of sand in the entire universe, things we don't know yet are just stuff we didn't come up with yet. So if it doesn't exist, it's only because no one didn't think about it yet.

so the things we have now can be a part of the things we have in the future? and the ideas and effort we lay down now will be a keystone for the future ideas that will make our life easier and better?

It's been always like that, Chinese invented gunpowder and now it's widely used for many things and propelled many other inventions. Inventing mathematics in the ancient times propelled science to unimaginable scale, physics and quantum physics and mechanics keep growing, if the world wasn't all about money there would be much more scientific progress I imagine. there are endless possibilities, and they keep growing.

money is sadly a double edged sword, it can both break and help. People only go for the money and development stops. Some work withouth pay for too long and breaks with time instead.
Its important to know the balance in everything and the people who support with money have to give everyone a chance to show what they have created, even if the idea wont give that much money back in profit. At the end everything add up to a complete solution.

the only limit we have is the limit of our imagination, and from what i have learned it have no limits

You're just wrong.
In our imagination a spoon of sand can be a a dessert and a brick can become a castle. We cant stop dreaming even if we become old. Mind and body is connected, if one become old the other will follow.
