Yup. Though I sometimes think people have forgotten the concept of moderation.

I guess this comes back to taking everything in moderation.  Too much of anything can be bad for you, be it video games, porn, food.. but at the same time a lot of these things make our lives more awesome so long as they are not taken overboard.
Can too much living be bad for you? Maybe I shouldn't live too much :]

Last thing I read was about Bob's Accounting exams. Now we're talking about...moderation or some shit?

In other news, I might be off for a summer adventure. And by adventure I mean work. And by work I mean slave conditions with albeit decent pay.

Also, old people can suck it.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

Lucky you, I've gotten like 40 rejections now... Doesn't seem like I get to do slave work this summer and actually earn some money.

Oh yes, me too.
That's why I'm headed into labour! Yay for being young and not having an experience, they totally love hearing how good of a person you are on paper. Wait, no, they hate if you haven't worked before because you were busy doing other things. Like volunteering, extra classes, sports, you know, all those things that look good on a college application.

Sorry. Rantrantrant.

I'm gunna leave you anyway.

lol I wish you luck in your "summer adventure" :P.  Seems like getting a job can be quite a chore nowadays..

And yeah there's totally a double standard for getting a job and all that..

Haha hopefully they really mean their policy of "full training, no experience required!"

Yeah well, it works out great if our University just hands you a job for going there :)
Sadly, being a first year and getting a research gig is a bit far fetched :(

I can't get a job because I don't have the experience from having a job, because the employer expects me to have had a job, which results in me not getting a job, which results in future employers not accepting me because I have not had a job, which results in me not getting a job, which results in future employers not accepting me because I have not had a job, which results in me not getting a job, which results in future employers not accepting me because I have not had a job, which results in me not getting a job, which results in future employers not accepting me because I have not had a job, which... *sigh*

The system is flawed.

Yeah... I didn't get a job at the university until I'd finished my third year.  I ended up working really shitty retail jobs for my first two university summers.  One of which expected me to learn how to do my job when they were only giving me 13 hours a week (ish). . It was my first retail job, it paid minimum wage, and expected way more than a place like dollarama (where I ended up working the next summer) that paid a bit over minimum wage and was happy if you simply showed up for your shifts. -_-  Finding a job sucks. :(

Yeah, I tried getting hired at shitty retail places. Buuuuut to no avail. They were like "wow, your resume is shit! You have no experience, we can't hire you."

Yeah, thanks girl, I know.

You're in the UK too right? I'm in the exact same position, having spent months trying to get a summer job with no success. Finding places that are hiring at all is tough enough, then half of those say straight up that they won't hire anyone without any prior experience in the sector, and then the remainder all just take one look at my CV and immediately chuck it out due to my lack of experience. It's really frustrating.

I'm hoping that while I'm on my year abroad studying in Japan I'll be able to get a part time job teaching English or something (since I have the advantage of being a native speaker). If I can't manage that, then at this rate I'll have graduated from uni without ever having had a job. Which is a depressing thought.

Ugh, OK, rant over. Let's move onto something more interesting. I've just been playing Jade Empire, and now I have a very strong urge to stay up all night watching Jackie Chan films.

I have tried applying to places before but I am apparently too young for a lot of jobs. I imagine with the certifications I have for in food safety would at least score me a job at some eating establishment, but it isn't going as well as I hoped. Oh well. I am still in high school. I will get a job eventually.

DO NOT SAY THAT.

Honestly, it's a huge mistake. Even if it's like...a month at a fast-food joint. Getting to the position I'm, and it would appear quite a few others are, in is not a good feeling. Unless you want to be a labourer, then it's pretty easy to find those sorta jobs if you're willing to put up with bosses that are...to put it kindly, incompetent.

Also, I think Buchno is Scandinavian, but that's pretty much the UK isn't it? ;)

Well, nah.

I feel your pain, Bob, although my life at the university hasn't even started yet.

Work, huh? I should probably look for a short-time job e.g. working at an exhibition or so.

In response to the persisting student protest movement, about a week ago the government has passed a special temporary law, the Bill 78, making it illegal to have crowds of more than 50 people without warming the police at least 8 hours before and getting their permission. Also illegal is any kind of encouragement to violate the law, or even the abstention of preventing someone to prevent the law from being broken. The law also reverses the burden of proof where someone accused of the offense has to prove he didn't commit it. As a result, almost everyone can be accused of an offence and it de facto gives the police the right to arrest almost everyone as they see fit. A growing number of people have received a contravention for wearing a red square, symbol of of support to the student movement. The law has been called unconstitutional by most experts, including the Bar.

As a result, massive events of civil disobedience are being organized. On may 22st a massive demonstration of 100,000 to 300,000 people(yes it's the third one of this size since the beginning) occurred and although the police was warned that it would occure, the organizators specifically refused to give their trajectory which violates the special law. Also, in the past 4 days, people have started going outside every evening at 10:15 PM and hitting cooking pots like this to make noise giving rise to countless improvised small demonstrations everywhere.

It makes me very sad that this is going on in Canada...  Or is deemed necessary in Canada.

2 questions:
Where is that? (I know that Montreal is in Canada, but there may be several cities with the same name)
What song plays in the linked video? :P
