Right, because a piece of that gray shit on your laptop's webcam doesn't look suspicious at all...

^ i got a bad habit of tinting those led lights with a black marker pen... well they're fucking annoying during the night XD "flicker flicker flicker"
Why are you using your webcam at night?

I dunno about yours, but most laptops and webcams have this little light that turns on when the cam is on...

there's this thing people call "duck tape". i hear it works wonders for these things.
I would use black electrical tape, it would just look like one of the bumpers on the laptop screen.

make up your goddamn mind.

it's an easy excuse if you use duck tape everywhere in your computer. calling it "redecoration".

Google key logger?

No, don't do that.

there are legal keyloggers for office purposes. so you know what your employee is up to.

Or just leave rubber gloves and a condom beside your laptop with a note saying, "Please practice safe masturbation. I do not want your jizz to mix with mine on my keyboard."

That ought to reduce the traffic on your laptop a little bit.
This is your home now. So take advantage of everything here, except me.

If you still want to record who is messing with you laptop just search for something like "use your webcam as a security camera"  There is a decent number of guides to help you set it up.

Just remember,  before you criticize someone, walk a mile in there shoes.  That way you are a mile away and have their shoes. :P

is there any method or software that can activate my laptop's webcam to record while im away?

Well, not related to your desire of recording who or what people are doing on your laptop, but I remember one published picture that showed the guy and girl having sex without knowing their camera was remotely hacked on.  Their floors must be dirty since the soles of their feet were dark with grime.   Yuck, dirty beds.   Anyways, my webcam is always covered up by a small piece of post-it overlapping the lens when I am there, so no peeky.

All you do with software is futile Because I take my Ubuntu I have on my usb, plug it in ur notebook, boot from USB, Vuala. I have working/running ubuntu.

Untraceable!!!

I advide u set up a camera that will take images in the room, if there is any movement, search youtube. there are tutorials how you can make such a camera yourself.

If your laptop is the only PC available for all the housemates to use, then it is difficult to simply say that no one can use it.   Since your housemates turn off your torrents and/or change other things, that is somewhat irresponsible of them and you should set simple passwords for your account and create a general user account for them to use.  When you leave, just switch user to the public account without logging off your account.
