Kimisufu box questions~
(1/1)
Tiffanys:
Anyone have a kimisufi box? I have a 300/300 100GB/2.5TB at Whatbox right now, but I can never max out the 300/300 and the 100GB of space is very limiting. So, I was thinking of switching to kimisufi 2G this month:
100/100 1TB/5TB will be much more useful to me. :)
But I don't know what to choose... looky: https://www.ovh.co.uk/order/kimsufi.cgi?hard=110sk1
Sooooo many options! o__o... Anywho, I only know how to use Windows, but here's my considerations...
- I'd like to be able to ssh in so I could use it as a VPN as well.
- I'd like to have an FTP server on it.
- I'd like to have a torrent program on it. uTorrent/ruTorrent
- Maybe use it to stream movies...
Right, so... watdo. My Whatbox runs out in 3 days btw, so I only have a few days to figure this out. Preferably sooner rather than later...
edit: Looking over it, I guess I'll want the Remote Desktop: Ubuntu option? https://www.ovh.co.uk/dedicated_servers/distributions/ubuntu_desktop.xml
edit: Ah god... I think I need to be in the UK...
dogsinafen:
I'm using a server from FDC servers... I have root access to it meaning I can use it for anything I want.
100/100 no caps... I'm always doing around 7.5MB/s to 10MB/s upload.
Using Fedora 14 as my OS.
Slasha:
If you don't know how to use linux stay away. You'll get zero support on software issues, they'll just help you with hardware problems. You'll have to install everything yourself including a torrent client, ftp server, etc.
There is a pretty extensive thread about them over at what.cd, if you're a member I recommend checking it out.
