The Humble Voxatron Debut "humble bundle"

Maybe they should apply a P2P system that would allow people to "pay" for the games they've downloaded
by serving as seeders to help with distribution. It's a tradeoff between paying with cash or paying with servitude.
It's alot like bakabt when you think about it. lol.

Maybe they could create a torrent-like client that prevents the leechers from finalizing their downloads unless they're
able to seed an appropriate amount of ratio for their download..

Besides, the main reason why software/data piracy is prevalent anyway, is that software/data can easily be replicated
near infinitely. Which is why the internet is the best playground to toy around with post-scarcity economics where a
patronage system seems more fair and humane than imposing an artificial scarcity. Some relevant ads could also provide added
revenue to freeware. Easily modable games also attract players to create User generated content which gives other
people incentive to pay either through donations or whatever.

Game developers could employ a system similar to kickstarter where they could pitch their game ideas,
declare the amount of budget necessary for the completion of the project, and allow people to pre-order the game with a
pay-what-you-want system where people can pay more than the minimum fee depending on how enthusiastic they
are about the game idea, since their order would only be finalized if and when the target budget for the project is reached.
Meaning no cash is deducted if the project didn't attract enough patrons for the given deadline and is subsequently cancelled.
And the Developers would also be obligated to send refunds if they are unable to finish their projects even though they have
already received the money from the pre-orders.

Now that I think about it. The taxation system for governments is also starting to sound retarded since it's based on a pyramid
scheme that is dependent upon infinite growth (population/production) that is practically unattainable with our current set of
technologies. Tax reallocation only serves to forcefully deplete national budgets just to avoid a surplus which eventually leads to
budget deficits and getting loans from banks, which ironically is also based on a non-sustainable pyramid scheme..

Governments tend to overspend due to their absurd notion that their budgets would be continuously sustained
by the taxes fueled by a mythical infinite growth. Whereas a patronage system for government projects places the power
back to the people by viewing each project as an object for consumption thereby preventing the bureaucrats from
pursuing government projects that are not supported by the people without leading them further into debt..

If someone can find a way to make that work I'm sure they will try it. Seeing how users react is a big part of "The humble indie bundle". What marketing works and what does not?

Its not just about make money for devs and charity. That's why they keep changing things.

--- Quote from: Dille on October 03, 2011, 02:02:40 PM ---It's not a 1 game bundle... At least for non-scumbag people.
They should probably do something like this for all bundles just to keep the "let's pay 1 cent and win" people away.

I didn't pay above the average and still got BTM and Isaac since I bought it on the first day :P

Duki3003:
Yea, they usually reward their early customers like so. But even paying above the average, the games are really worth it.
I really like Voxatron, it's simple, but amusing - especially for a game not larger than 2 MB.

nstgc:
I think I'll pass on this one.
