Hitman Absolution
« on: November 03, 2011, 07:22:14 PM »
I'm quite surprised there is no topic for upcoming new Hitman game.
E3 trailer
So apparently what was main dish in previous Hitman games (at least for me) will have now it's own "hardcore" mode. I don't quite get it. What, will there be more options to kill your target? Idk.

Here is some gameplay footage
and here same gameplay with commentary

~"The Instint mechanic was added when the AI became so complex and hard to handle for us at the team, we needed a tool to be able to play the game."
(click to show/hide)
Yes, the AI is sooo complex that it doesn't even know it should look inside the room it's entering and instead it's more interested with a wall 0.5 meter ahead...

I know AI in Hitman series was never really remarkable but come on.

I don't really know what to think of it. I don't like eagle eye.. I mean instinct mode but it's something you won't have to use. I don't like how covering your face and avoiding eye contact is making you less suspicious instead of more suspicious... Well, if majority of levels will be open enviroment with few ways of making the kill I guess it can be good... sort off. I'm really sceptical about this after watching the gameplay.

And laser vision that predicts the movements is a noob tool and is a turn off for me.
For one thing, Tiff is not on any level what I would call a typical American.  She's not what I would consider a typical person.  I don't know any other genius geneticist anime-fan martial artist marksman model-level beauties, do you?

Never a fan of the original games, this looks like it might interest me. We'll see.

So, this video gave me a little hope about this game. Sure, the point shooting and instinct are stupid but you can turn them off. Without them it actually looks like good old Hitman (though they still didn't change the fact that you can choke the guy during the middle of phone conversation witout any fallout).

I tried to like the game because it seemed semi-similar to Splinter Cell (only the first three SC games were good... we don't talk about the rest of them) but I never got that feel for the character (Agent 47). He was almost TOO mysterious and dressing up in a Mascot chicken suit just really killed it for me.

How do people compare Hitman to Splinter Cell is beyond me.

I'm guessing you've heard of that comparison before? They are both situational stealth/lethal force games that gives you the option of what you want to do to get through the level. The only difference between the two game series is that Agent 47 is a lot more nonchalant about how he goes about each level while Sam Fisher takes his job way too seriously. XD

I see it more like

Hitman:
pick one of various ways to kill a target (targets). AI is dumb but sometimes funny, some bullshit levels.

Splinter Cell:
Imma hidin' in teh shadowz and u cant c teh three green lights on mah heads. Also AI is dumb. And you stabilize a knife in the stomach wound by simply taking out the knife and then you think it's a good idea to get an unconcious man with an untreated hole in his stomach and swim in the salt water. He would totally not bleed to death or drown. Nope.

Yeah so maybe I beat only Chaos Theory but I did play a bit of first one and Double Agent. And actually, if Double Agent wouldn't be so technicaly broken I would probably like him the most.

Really? I mean REALLY?

(click to show/hide)

I should not have to play a game where the main character looks like this... :/

And on SC, totally agree with everything. The game takes itself way too seriously. And yes, Double Agent SUCKED (never played Convictions and likely not this new one either). Oh and killing latex clad nuns? I'll pass on this game too.

IIRC, you don't even have to actually wear that disguise to complete that level. That's one of the cool things about Hitman games, there are many ways to achieve the same objective.

On a different note though, wouldn't it be creepy to be, say, stabbed to death by a guy in a bird costume?

There is nothing wrong with that suit
If you are real hitman player you would know that
I really find that comment dumb

Btw. Absolution looks very promising

Aimbot,Laser vision and other shit can be turned off so don't make stupid comments about it

In a Saints Row game, yes.

Exactly, I'm not a Hitman player. I at least have played the games to make a judgement about it.

TMR, you still miss the point that you don't have to pick up the chicken suit. That's the point of Hitman games, you have various ways to complete your tasks.

Trust me, I know there are various ways to complete each level while SC was pretty much linear. If there is any stealth action game I'll be getting this Fall, it will be Dishonored.

I enjoyed the first Hitman and Blood Money (that was 4, right?) as well, and I loved Silent Assassin.  So it's fairly likely that I'll get Absolution, too, but I'll wait a few months or more after launch for it to drop in price.

I particularly like taking a stealthy approach in games of this type, but I did enjoy that you could have a more aggressive style of gameplay, too, depending on the mission and what you felt like doing at the time.
It took an hour to write; I figured it'd take an hour to read.

FCK THIS GAME

Sup with this Agent 47 brawling
His disguise is useless, always getting detected ... fuck with this instinct meter
Checkpoints wtf....

People doing the reviews are right, if you love the past hitman games, you'll be disappointed with this one
Good thing I just downloaded this crap game size when  uncompressed  is 23.4 GB  >:(

what do guys think and your experience with this game

Should I pull the trigger and uninstall this?  :-\

or

should continue playing and finish this even with all the negatives by dealing with it :-\

Why don't you play on Purist then?

Detection through disguise is a known issue or has been made an issue that the devs are looking into.
