I'm a little bit confused, how would switching my user agent for MediaFire allow me to access MediaFire's MyFiles's page?

If it thinks you're using a newer browser, then it won't show that page. But I'm guessing they wouldn't just block a version for no reason, so it may well be that there is some bug or incompatibility which stops that page from working in firefox 3.

Thanks for the explanation 8), very helpful ;D!

--- Quote from: Bob2004 on November 12, 2011, 10:18:15 PM ---Honestly, you should just upgrade to a newer version of Firefox - there's really no benefit at all to sticking with such an outdated browser, and if it's stopping some websites from working, then that's all the more reason to fix it. What's so bad about newer versions of FF, anyway?

My main problems with the newer firefox are the following.

1.) The Status Bar at the bottom. I can't make it look like it was in Firefox 3.6.24.
2.) When I right click on a link, Open Link in New Tab is above Open Link in New Window, instead of Open Link in New Window being above Open Link in New Tab.
3.) Selecting Tools -> Addons makes the add-ons window show up as a new tab, instead as a new window.
4.) Oh and yeah, some of my add-ons are incompatible.

That's all I can think of right now.

You're using an older version which is slower, much less secure, and increasingly becoming incompatible with some sites (such as Mediafire) because of tiny niggling reasons like those? You'll get used to the first three after using it for an hour or two, they're not even problems to begin with, you're just used to the old UI.

I can understand the fourth being an issue if it's an important addon you use a lot, but the newer addons format has been around long enough that you should at least be able to find another addon to do the same thing, even if what you currently have is no longer being maintained.

vuzedome:
Just update your browser, or install a second browser just for this but then that would be dumber.

1. Status-4-Evar
2. Menu Editor
3. Classicish Add-on Manager
or Add-ons Manager Dialog Returns
4. Then find some replacements. Though I admit there are a few that can be hard. Only recently found a replacement for 'Show Anchors'...

Thank you for all of your help, if I ever do upgrade to 8.0 again, I will surely install these.

Lord of Fire:
For incompatible add-ons, install Add-on Compatibility Reporter. It will allow you to use your add-ons as normal, no matter how old they are. There's a chance some of them might not work, but I haven't encountered any issues in Firefox 8 yet, and I have 6 old add-ons (some of which haven't been updated since Firefox 4).
