looking for a free IRC client that supports XDCC (windows)
nstgc:
Yeah, it does. I would have to pull some trick to get it to work right. I'd rather just use something that is legally free than make something illegally free. Besides, with Gnome 3 out, I may be switching over to KDE (if I ever get my computer to work with linux again). KVIrc is part of the KDE bundle so may as well use it.

what doesnt work in irc after the trial expires as far as i know u just wait 3 or 4 seconds and click continue
AnimeJanai:
The mIRC just has an annoying delay time while it displays the "please buy me" nagging screen if you didn't buy it. It doesn't prevent you from using it after the delay and it doesn't seem to use a timeout to automatically stop working after a period of time. If not for all the free competitors, mIRC would have probably made a version that runs for an hour then stops for a few hours cooldown.
When looking for free software that has no nag screens, remember to try the nonags freeware site.
Blanchimont:
Nettalk
Open source (licensed under Apache 2.0)
-Supports xdcc
-- with filesizes over 4GB (like mirc and xchat(and xchat too tends to fail here if combined with resume...))
-- supports spaces in filenames (unlike KVirc for example)(with the caveat that it replaces the blanks with underlines in the downloads)
--will fail with some special characters in filenames (like Commie's Fate ⁄ Zero). Otherwise the client is utf-8 enabled (chans, nicks and text)
Caveats;
-- doesn't support IPv6
-- doesn't support SSL
-- German client and only half of the documentation has been translated so far (see link)
From personal experience, if left running for very long, or too many open channels/active downloads, it tends to crash sometimes...
Despite the caveats mentioned, it's pretty decent client for xdcc purposes...
For the rest see the link above

i use PChat.
it's another free xChat version that supports all the major features (like xdcc downloads >4GB, SSL, etc. pp.) and is available as a portable version too.
