wut? you mean you just bought your new rig and it doesn't have an integrated audio? you must've been scammed.

Lrn2read, man.

okay, this may sound silly but is there any sound card for desktop?
because my old desktop integrated one is malfunction...

Yeah, there are, but they are in low demand so there isn't much supply, since you can't sell them for very much (try checking eBay). Are you sure it's your board though? Try reinstalling the driver first.

EDIT : and is there any disk drive bay for hdd?

Care to elaborate?

the point of the question is if you had your new rig in why'd you even do much with the old one?
though i do understand to not throw it away and use it as some sort of backup rig like i do.

anyway there is alot of PCI audio cards here and there around my area, no idea on yours.
though i suggest you go with these http://www.usbgear.com/USB-Speakers.html, just plug it and it'll do the rest, well some needs manual driver installations.

yea sure there are drive docking stations that can be bought, i mean something like a plug port for HDDs, though i might suggest you take 3.5 to dual 2.5 bay converters if you plan to put in laptop HDDs in.

but however, the thing you're searching for might be an "external drive bay" or more like a "harddrive enclosure" but usually these have a built in SATA-to-eSATA/USB converters in it.

hoho, for PCI eh...better start searching this Chinese New Year...thought that i fear this thing is rare in my area...
for the usb speaker, i think not to take it...gonna stick with PCI sound card...

i might not understand that, but also gonna start searching for it...

there are some USB speakers with a 3.5jack output so it can act like either a speaker or a soundcard, rather it just uses the USB as a connection and powersource instead of something else.

"harddrive docking station" is something like a harddrive port where you plug your drive like a flashdrive, literally.

well, still gonna stick with soundcard, its better, right?

did a little googling just now, and surprised with the name...'external...'
well, gonna follow your advices on searching the 3.5to dual 2.5bay for drive bay...

not entirely, because some cheap soundcard sounds worse than onboards, problem is if they have driver support for winxp, win7, etc.

hold it, i did suggest for you to take one but that is IF you plan to put in laptop drives, i.e. 2.5" drives.

i meant creative labs >.< sorry http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829102012
PCI based Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1, and it should be their cheapest.

PCI based asus xonars:

I hear that Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE is overpriced and only equal/worse then onboard.  I hear good things about asus cards but I have no first hand experience with neither.

^ i don't think so though, creative's audigy should be at least better than an ALC662 and the likes, though doubtfully better than ALC889 and the likes, maybe on par.

asus xonars are good, though not the best either.
