Especially for multichannel audio (5.1)

Which aac encoder do you guys, encoder gods ;) , think is the best?

Nero wasn't updated for years. And Apple QT is rather shaky in the past iirc, etc.
But what about now?

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thx a lot in advance!

personally I use the nero AAC package they made available in conjuction with megui (for the audio profile).  I also think that if memory serves that EXPORTING (encoding) with quicktime requires paying for pro (or getting a pro key via other means)

Note that handbrake uses faac, which the authors state on their own page as being “not up to par with the currently best AAC encoders available”.

Not that it matters a lot if you’re just making quick rips in Handbrake for personal use, but good to know.

I use Nero AAC as well, through foobar2000 and eac3to.

I got cha  :-*, but there are "qaac" or any other encoder that uses the Apple Quicktime engine for Free.

(Lately I heard good things about Quicktime aac)

These days Nero and qtaacenc are the better choices for aac encoding.

[edit] Second time this month I've quoted someone and it simply posts the quote. Weird.

Anyways, That reminds me, since Mecoder is supposedly broken, what encoder do you guys use?

I prefer command line for something like this. Its easier to use (once you know the commands which isn't harder than figuring out what drop downs/radios do what/boxes), simpler, and easier to write a script for.
