Help with video card issue with Halo CE

(1/1)

leoliger:
Now I do not know if I should put this up here or the Need/Questions thread where all the bittorrent issues are or here in the technology thread. Right everything is switched around for me when BakaBT updated the forums. Right now I have my hair being pulled out. What I though was a simple fix is not so simple anymore. I have been trying to play Halo CE on my new gaming laptop for a couple of days. A few friends of mine wanted a lan party and I was invited to go when Halo CE was one of the games, I thought, "Yeah, let's do it!" But Halo CE just comes on a black screen, but there is sound and I could hear the menu selection go up and down. It is just no video, but a black screen.

My Specs:
Alienware 15mx
Windows 7 HM
1.87 gigahertz Intel Core i7 Q 840
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850
8 Gigs of Ram

Now I believe the problem is the video card. Searching on google informed me the the Anti-Aliasing might be causing the problem, but I have gone through the Catalyst Control Center to turn it off, and I have been trying to turn off/on the options in the gaming setting with still no effect. I as well have put it in compatibility mode XP(service pack2) and still nothing. I am really open to suggestions in order to help me out.

kitamesume:
thats most likely graphics card driver issues, check the release notes if theres any driver with a hotfix on that. if its not the driver then idk.
another thing, are you running hydra, optimus or whatever that switches your GPUs depending on the scenario? might be another cause.

PS: should've been posted in the games section.

I believe there's plenty on this by now.

Dig deeper, because the chances of us just randomly finding you a solution on here are about 0.1%.

No. Only running the Catalyst Control Center for the video card. Nothing else, I think. The only thing I did was update the control center.
