Any JRPGs for PC?
tyrionlannister:
Anachronox, even though is not Japanese made, has a JRPG style, and I think, being based on the Quake II engine, allows higher resolutions. The only problem, in my view, is that the focus is a lot more on adventure/quest type elements and less on turn-based combat. I also found the part that I played (I didn't finish it) to have many amusing elements and nice voice acting.
There's also a PC port of the second in a cycle of at least 3 PS2 JRPGs, the name of which I just can't remember, but I wouldn't recommend anyway since it was quite boring. Edit: it was Grandia 2.
Also, I think Breath of Fire of Fire IV was ported to the PC, but I never played that.
The Last Remnant wasn't so bad, but the grinding for higher level weapon upgrades was insane.

Grandia II is too expensive, and Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter was never ported :'(

Have you ever tried looking for free ones? Free MMOs are obviously easy to find. I'm wondering if there's some free JPRGS or similar online somewhere. Browsing through steam might yield something interesting as well.

There's still plenty of good JRPGs on the PSX: http://forums.bakabt.me/index.php?topic=20625.0
If you got a PS3 then it only takes 10-20 minutes to get the controller working on your PC.

I meant more in the direction of why Japanese people seem to reject PC as a gaming platform, when in contrast their neighbours S.Korea have adopted Starcraft which is a PC game almost as a national sport.

Uh, there are tons of JRPGs on the PC. They just never got released in the west.
Aselia got released recently, though: http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews/Aselia_the_Eternal/index.html
And you have a lot of Action RPGs like the Ys series.
