Anime management client
(1/1)
Slysoft:
Hey, I've got quite a few hard drives full of anime and it gets annoying sometimes trying to remember where something is saved. I've been looking for a clean and simple program that would simply let me add the files into a sortable list and open them in MPC; something like foobar2000 only for video. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
AnimeJanai:
Why not organize the files on the hard drives instead of adding additional complexity? For example, three drives can store anime series whose names begin with the letters A to H, I to R, and S to Z and numbers.
Blanchimont:
If you're dealing with externals, you can use these two programs in combination;
Karen's Directory Printer
--Use it to save a textfile(.txt) of the contents of a drive.
--One textfile you leave on the drive, and one copy of it to a dedicated folder on your pc.
--It is highly advisable you give the textfile same name as the drive. ...and the drive a sticker with that name (depends on how many externals you joggle with...)
grepWin
--Use this to search the contents of the textfiles in that dedicated folder.
As someone with ~40T stored on externals (backups not included) I can vouch this works. AnimeJanai's advice above is good for any reasonable amount, but I've long since given up trying to organize those on the hard level...
nstgc:
I just organize them in folders. I have folders for what they are (manga, anime TV, OVAs, Movies) then further into A-j and so on. It works pretty well.

Tried AniDB's client?

I simply use Windows search and have all my drives indexed. Or I download it again without bothering to check since it is so fast now a days.
