Old thread. 2012. Thinking we can create one each year.

Bioshock Infinite
Metro: Last Light
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Mass Effect 3
Hitman: Absolution
Tomb Raider
The Last of Us (provided it does release in 2012)
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Essentially those that I am hyped about.

Other games I could see myself playing: Far Cry 3, The Last Guradian (well, Wiki says 2012), Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD, Darksiders 2, Max Payne 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 (if I ever finish XIII), I Am Alive, Inversion, The Amazing Spider-Man, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Prey 2.

I really don't see myself playing FF13-2. I didn't care at all about the characters, the world, or the plot, so I see no point to a sequel. I'd rather just forget it existed and move on to Versus.

Guild Wars 2 and maybe Tribes: Ascend

I would play Mass Effect 3, but the ME2 savegame that I saved for that day is gone with the death of my HD. That was a savegame that I first exported from ME1, so it was like continuation of both games. So FUCK IT to the whole damned thing, i don't want to care any more.

Also X Rebirth, since I am a fan of both X2 and X3

Grab the savegame editor and you can have everything back in a couple seconds.

and yes... sadly... I REALLY want to play the F2P Mechwarrior Online (if they do it right). I'm cool with microtransactions if it lets me play as big ass mechs and destroy other big ass mechs. XD

You think we'll see that in 2012? They still seem to be in the REALLY early stages.

I'm hoping for more sim and less arcade myself on that one.

They are hoping for 12 v 12 battles... but by the looks of this (and the interviews I've read)... they are gonna make it more sim than arcade... but enough arcade to make the game... well... popular.

This about sums up the state of where I'm at with any game Square Enix puts out nowadays.

I'm not buying FF13-2. Not even if it's good. When you buy a game (not used) you reward the developer. They learn, "Oh, I did something right, I'll do it again!"

Releasing a sequel to a game nobody liked, with gameplay nobody liked, and a story nobody liked filled with characters nobody liked is not something I intend to reward.

Congrats, Square Enix, you make beautiful graphics. Put some of that effort into the gameplay or story now. These are video games, not interactive movies, no matter how much you want them to be.

Yeah... there will always be the hardcore FF fans that will buy it brand new and reward the developer.

On the other hand, if Square Enix actually listened to their customers (and remade FF7 or FF8 or FF9)... TRUST ME... those will sell like hot cakes.

They already crossed that line when they made Final Fantasy: The spirits within and Final Fantasy: advent children.
I think that most people in Square Enix just want to make movies, but are kind of stuck as game company, so they are stuck making (as you well described them) interactive movies instead.

I have no problem with that if people like it, however I have a problem with SE having Hitman IP and that is one game in 2012 that I am very sceptical about.
