Graphic Tablet for drawing anime girl
« on: January 03, 2012, 09:37:50 PM »
Hi, I am planning on learning how to draw anime girls using a graphic tablet. Any tips and advice.
I am thinking of getting this http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=65530&vpn=CTL470M&manufacture=Wacom. Any suggestion on the tablets that I should get? or any other suggestions. I am open to suggestions!

I have no suggestions to give, but I can't help but coment on your user name. You're name is "horny-sama" and your posting (with a post count of 2) a thread where you want to draw anime girls. That's funny. Don't blame you. If I could draw I would too, just that the name made me laugh a bit.

IIRC, Wacom is essentially the industry standard. However, for casual use, most people will find the Bamboo series to be just as useful. I think it's a lower division of wacom. Essentially same thing, but less bells and whistles.

My bro bought the wacom and then stopped using it. It was putting $180 on the side burner. Luckily, he found an art student to sell it to. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive, toy that collects dust.

Bamboo is good enough for most though.

* AceHigh goes into pretend-to-be-an-expert mode

Hmmm... it really depends if you will draw tantacle monster raping the girls, or the regular sick incest hentai.

In all seriousness, if its the industrial standard and you can get it for 68 CAD, go for it.

[edit] Deleted part of my original post. Some meaning almost all.

Yeah, 68 bucks is worth the cost to be able to draw tentacle rape.

Sorry, didn't realize it was called Wacom Bamboo. My brother bought a wacom Intuos.

But yeah. 68 is a great price to push you on the way towards a hobby.

Because you are obviously way too mainstream for a topic like this.
I use a Wacom Bamboo fun myself, not for professional use but it does the job just right.

Genius can pull it off nicely, it's a generic brand putting out generic products after all, but Wacom has the reputation.

My sister got this one as an xmas present.

It's pretty good. The one the OP posted I think doesn't give you as much pressure sensitivity for drawing. That one is more for basic drawing/note keeping

There's no requirement for paying for an expensive Wacom.  They actually used to be cheaper years ago but then for some reason, the price decided to go way up well above the inflation rate.  I suppose they realized their core audience was price insensitive.   The technology of a graphics tablet, pen, and accessories is fairly old and well understood.  So you should not feel pressured to paying $499 for a 8x12 active surface area wacom/bamboo.   Consider that other brands exist such as VISTA.
