Kanon 2006 8/10

Pros

Heartbreaking storyline.
Very interesting characters.
Funny, but also sad.
Enough episodes to get used to the characters and love them.
KEY.

Cons

Some characters and details in the plot identical with those in Clannad (or maybe it's the reverse because Kanon aired before Clannad).

I would definitely rate this anime 9/10 or even 10/10 if i haven't seen Clannad. But can't help it, Clannad was by all means better.

K-On! 9.5/10
Pros:
Nice animation.
Made me laugh so much.
Good characters, I can't pick just one that is my favorite :P
Nice plot.

Cons:
I wish it would've gone in depth more, I didn't really like how you pretty much watched two years pass in only 12 episodes.

Nevertheless, I absolutely loved it! Definitely one of my favorites.

Elfen Lied

Pros:
- Lot's of action/violence/gore
- Great plot
- Interesting characters

Cons:
- Limited Character depth
(click to show/hide)
- Only 13 episodes & 1 OVA!! need moar :(

Rating - 9 / 10   I loved this anime series, it's a shame it's from 2004 which likely means they won't be making any more. I would have loved for some more episodes to share some more information on the background/past lives of individual characters, but other than that it's one of my favourite animes.

Yeah, I feel ya.... I had to go read the manga just to get a closure on that series, but loved it as well ^.^

Anyways:

Latest anime I've watched (from my list of neverending anime I just keep piling on):
Hotarubi no Mori e

Pros':
The story was really cute and funny.
I really felt like I could watch that forever.
The visuals were also a treat for the eye, and the voices made the whole thing perfect.
That ending music really fit the mood.
Cons'
There aren't really many cons' to this movie, except for the fact that it was only 45 minutes long.
It might have been an entire series and I would've been it's biggest fan. However, the fact that it was only 45 minutes long didn't
really bother me that much since it brought the whole story to a conclusion (even though this conclusion left me with the blues....)

Verdict:
9/10

Monster

Pros:
+Great depth with the characters
+Enticing and interesting plot
+Able to flush out a wide range of emotions from the audience

Cons:
-It ends (honestly, I cannot think of a single bad thing about this series)
-I would complain that it's long, but it uses the many episodes so effectively, I'm glad the series had so many episodes

Total: 9.5/10

Naruto  6.5-7/10

Pros:
entertaining
good battles
fun jokes (now and then)
good animation with capturing scenes (yes I an In love with kyuubi)
they was nice enough to get out of all the Sasuke mess in the end, like that, would have been such a mes if they would have kept on with all of that
I actually liked it more when they got rid of Sasuke and his self righteous mumbling

Cons:
now that I watched it second time it's Naruto who annoys me not Sakura :D
the Saskue is more annoying as well, off with him, well started Naruto Shippuuden and they started wit all Sasuke mess, and I am not sure if I will like that, but will see
WHAT WITH THE LAST 13 EPS? it did seam not only like someone else wrote them, but also that someone who was only learning to draw made them >_> I so regret the time I spent on them....

...Men are so necessarily mad that it would be another twist of madness not to be mad...

Welcome to the NHK.

10/10

Usually I don't rate things this highly, but this show seemed to somehow fit all of its messy, uncomfortable, and nearly unbearable contents in perfect little niches so at the end what you are left with is an inspiring display of human patheticalness.  I loved it.

Pros : - Great storytelling no real lulls continues at a strong pace from beginning to end.
         - Immersive and atmospheric world with great art and music
         - Awesome action

Cons : - No one laughs ... ever.
          - The melodrama spoon was unavailable, the melodrama shovel had to do.
          - It's really hard finding genuine criticisms to fill up 3 slots in this forum topic?

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai          10/10

Pros:
Deep and easily relatable characters
Fantastic dialogue and story
Nice soundtrack
(click to show/hide)

Cons:
A little teen-angsty, but I don't care in the slightest

Easily one of the greatest shows I've ever seen, especially as a drama, which can be a hit and miss genre.

Cons:

Bakemonogatari

7/10

pros:
Good music
Kept me entertained for a little while
leads have interesting personalities

cons:
so much screens that interrupt the show like [black frame] and [red frame] and such, actually wanted to find out how much time these things wasted over the entire series but Im too lazy to find out

(click to show/hide)

No main story (well there kind of is but its unresolved), just a bunch of small ones strung together

kind of ends on a cliffhanger, still decent as standalone - suppose Ill have to watch Nisemonogatari at some point.

7 is a very low rating for Bakemonogatari. Though I personally liked Nisemonogatari better, cuz of some certain reasons (I don't want to spoil). But still, 7 is way too low for Bakemonogatari.

Hanaukyou Maid Tai: La Verite

8/10

Pros:
- Great comedy
- Average story (it's nothing that stands out)
- The guy is not a wimp, he's got initiative and not only knows what he wants but also fights for that.

Cons:
- For an ecchi series they seem to forget to show significant ecchi after the 2nd episode (with one or other exception here and there).
- Stuff happens and then some of it is actaully forgotten in later episodes. For a series that is not episodic it can be considered a deception.
- After watching the other version you may get into too high hopes for this one. There doesn't seem to exist any improvements at all.

I wouldn't consider it low.
To be honest, it's not that gripping.
Interesting, don't get me wrong. But it's not one of those series that you're like: "OMG, I need to see what happens next!"
I personally give it an 8, but I can understand giving it a 7.

Although, giving it a 7 for things like the black and red screens, that's a little 'meh'.

About to start up Nise, myself.

Zero no Tsukaima (complete)

+vibrant, detailed backgrounds
+original concept is interesting at least
+it's everyone's favourite guilty pleasure: harem
+well paced

-generally sticks with what works but tries too hard to be a serious drama sometimes
-too many cliches
-straightforward harem
-little overboard with the fanservice
-plot holes galore
-setting and world isn't really fleshed out; too many crapshoot explanations
-basically they did the same OP and ED 4 times

5/10 (5/10 ZnT, 5/10 FnS, 5/10 PnR, 4/10 ZnT F)

The Place Promised In Our Early Days/Kumo no Mukou, Yakusoku no Bashou 7/10

Pros:

Very calm anime, makes you rest and relax
Soft romance that can easily be watched with family
Futuristic, but not totally mecha

Cons:

Was so calm I fell asleep trying to watch it first time
The seiyuu of main hero seemed amateur, so was a pain to listen to him
Though animation was good, I didn't like how characters were drawn

Or else was pretty good. I relaxed and enjoyed it.

Natsuiro Kiseki - which just was swapped with updated batch, reminding me to post here.

OKay ... silly school girl fun, coming of age.  You can put that down to both Good & Bad depending on your mood.

However, this one is done quite a bit better than most.  The humor gets silly and slapstick, but also has some charming depth to it.  There's a good "Groundhog Day" arc toward the end, which ties in nicely with all the other themes.  The story progresses with decent depth & thought, nice character interaction and development, and a good bit of heart rubbed on it.

The animation and artwork really shine, though.  I'm looking forward to having a BluRay of this just so I can vidcap about every third or fourth frame as a wallpaper.  The light Jpop soundtrack is fairly decent with a few solid highlights, even if it's not outstanding for the most part.

On the downside, the fundamental premise (a wishing stone that can grant some amazingingly powerful wishes) is not exploited nearly to its fullest.  If a group of fairly talented & intelligent kids (like our main protagonists) really did have access to something like that for an entire summer, it is entirely unrealistic that they wouldn't come up with vastly more creative ways to abuse such a power.

Overall I give 6.5 or 7 for 10, with the artwork and general feel-good carrying a premise that had a lot more potential than the writers managed to pull off.  This could have been a full order of magnitude more clever, and it really feels that way by the time the final episode credits roll.

[ EDIT: oh BTW --

Zero no Tsukaima (complete)
5/10 (5/10 ZnT, 5/10 FnS, 5/10 PnR, 4/10 ZnT F)

Yah.  Pretty much agree.  The first season I'd give somewhere around a 6 or 7 for 10, but the following seasons struggle to maintain a 5, with individual episodes dipping into the 3 range.  The unending stream of tit jokes got more than tiresome halfway through the 2nd season, then they doubled-down and tripled down on them as the finale approached.  Pretty pathetic and uninspired.  I've told several friends to just stop at the end of Season 2 & pretend that's all there is. ]
